Valorisation des polymères styréniques issus des déchets d’équipements électroniques et électriques / Recycling of styrenic polymers from waste of electric and electronic equipmentsChevallier, Céline 29 November 2012 (has links)
The aim of this work consists in the recycling of the styrenic polymers coming from waste of electric and electronic equipments. Polystyrene (PS), high impact polystyrene (HIPS), poly(acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) (ABS), its alloy with the polycarbonate (ABS/PC) and poly(styrene-acrylonitrile) (SAN) are considered. A preliminary study permits to choose two blends to study: PS/ABS and PS/PC. In the case of PS/ABS blend, the ionic way of compatibilization was studied. The addition of a copolymer containing an ionic structure and the creation of an ionic network in-situ are investigated. Both these attempts are not conclusive about the improvement of the final properties of the blend. The PS/PC blend is then compatibilized by adding a polystyrene-block-poly(ethylene-butylene)-block-polystyrene grafted polycarbonate. This copolymer is first created in an internal mixer, in order to study different catalysts able to initiate the grafting, and then the reactive extrusion is used to synthesize it on a large scale. Several amounts are introduced in the PS/PC blend and the improvement of the properties and microstructures proves its compatibilizing effect

Modification chimique de polymères par des dérivés acyloxyimides en extrusion réactive / Chemical modification of polymers by acyloxyimide derivatives in reactive extrusionRakotonirina, Mamy Daniel 20 July 2018 (has links)
Post-functionalization is a technique which allows to introduce specific properties to polymers whose intrinsic characteristics are limited for a defined application. It has become an appropriate tool to answer the strong demand for performance materials that is constantly growing. Among the post-functionalization methods, one of the most exploited is the radical grafting of the polymers in the molten state by reactive extrusion (T> 160 ° C). In this type of process, a radical precursor called grafting agent is used to graft functional units (monomers) onto the polymer backbone. In this context, the conventional grafting agents used in extrusion are peroxides. However, the radicals generated by peroxide compounds often lead to side reactions, particularly crosslinking reactions of the polymer chains which limit the efficiency of the process. Thus, finding a new family of grafting agents remains a challenge to optimize these extrusion systems. In this research work, the main objective is to use new grafting agents based on acetoxyphthalimide (NAPI) for extrusion. To reach this goal, our strategy is based on a multidisciplinary approach which presents a theoretical study by chemical modeling and an experimental approach by the synthesis and the reactivity study of the targeted structures. To validate the concept, polyethylene, polyamide and polylactic acid post-functionalization tests through these new grafting agents have been carried out. The results obtained have shown that these NAPI derivatives are efficient to graft monomers and to reduce the crosslinking reaction compared to peroxide agents.

Preparação e caracterização de amidos termoplásticos / Preparation and characterization of termoplastic starchesRóz, Alessandra Luzia da 21 December 2004 (has links)
This main of this work was to study of the cornstarch granules plasticization by means of physical or chemical treatments in order to prepare new materials. The plasticization by physical processing was performed in an intensive mixer at 150°C using ditferent hydroxylated compounds as plasticizers. The production of thermoplastic starch (TPS) by chemical reaction was carried out using mono and di-isocyanates to obtain grafted and cross linked derivatives, respectively. All the products were characterized by X Ray Diffraction, Ditferential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetry (TG), Dynamical Mechanical Analysis (DMA), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), High Pressure Size Exclusion Chromatography (HPSEC). The utilization of ditferent plasticizer permitted determining which characteristics the substances must present to be used in the TPS preparation. The shear developed in the processing step lead to the loss of crystalline pattern and disruption of the starch granules. The utilization of intensive mixer does not produce significant changes in the molar mass of the thermoplastic starch. TPS produced using sorbitol as plasticizer presented the lowest level of water uptake. The valous of Young modulus for TPS produced with propylene glycol increased with the content of plasticizer. To samples produced with ethylene glycol the values of Young modulus increased until 30% and after the modulus decrease. TPS prepared with propylene glycol, 1, 4-butanediol, sorbitol and diethyleneglycol showed an increase in the glass transition temperature with the increase in the plasticizer content. The ditferent TPS produced by physical mixture shoed thermal stabilities similar to the one exhibited by in natura starch. The mechanical properties of these materials were dependent of the type and amount of plasticizer. The analysis of the derivatives obtained by chemical reaction (grafted and cross linked) revealed the occurrence of disruption of the starch granules and, independent1y of isocyanate, the products presented higher hydrophobic character than that one presented by in natura starch. By reaction starch with propylene toluene polyoxide oligomer, it was obtained a derivative with elastomeric properties and high swelling capability. The grafted or cross linked derivatives showed loss of crystallinity, decrease in hydrophilic character, and thermal stability similar to the one exhibited by in natura starch.
