Entendemos a gramaticalização como parte do estudo lingüístico que focaliza a mudança que se dá a partir de um processo gradual de pragmatização do significado, que envolve estratégias de caráter inferencial, que aumentam a informação pragmática, e estratégias metafóricas, que acarretam a abstratização (TRAUGOTT, 1982, 1989, 1995 e TRAUGOTT; KÖNIG, 1991). Sugere-se uma trajetória unidirecional que parte do proposicional ao textual e à (inter)subjetivização, relativa ao fato de que os falantes, em nome da expressividade, desenvolvem significados novos para lexemas já existentes, codificando suas atitudes a respeito do que é dito ou das atitudes do ouvinte (TRAUGOTT, 1982, 2004), numa perspectiva textual-interativa. Propomos, portanto, uma abordagem que privilegie a discussão empírica, baseada na análise qualitativa do item, e a reflexão acerca do postulado da gramaticalização, enquanto possibilidade de explicação da emergência desse marcador discursivo, de modo a superar problemas que subjazem o tratamento dessa categoria. A base para a análise é o Banco de Dados Iboruna, organizado com amostras de fala do interior de São Paulo e os resultados dela revelam uma trajetória que parte do uso fonte dêitico, em direção a usos fóricos modais, voltados ao domínio do texto, experimentando momentos de ambigüidades, denominados dêiticos fóricos. A partir daí,... / The purpose of the present paper is to study the use of assim, named as discourse marker and considered the result of a process of change experienced by the particle, with the aim to describe its syntactic, semantic and pragmatic behavior according to the theoretical principles of grammaticalization and to a conjugation of them with the ones from the Interactive Textual Grammar, once the concept of language as social interaction is elected. We understand grammaticalization as part of the linguistic study which focuses the changes that occur beginning from a gradual process of pragmatization of meaning, which involves inferential strategies, that increase the pragmatic information, and metaphoric strategies that cause the abstratization (TRAUGOTT, 1982, 1989, 1995 and TRAUGOTT; KÖNIG, 1991). We suggest a unidirectional path that goes from the prepositional to the textual and to the (inter)subjectification, related to the fact that the speakers, because of expressiveness, develop new meanings for already existing lexems, codifying their attitudes towards what is said or the attitudes of the listener (TRAUGOTT, 1982, 2004), on a textual-interactive perspective. We propose, therefore, an approach that reaches, in synchronic level, an empiric discussion, based on the qualitative analysis of the particle, and, in theoretical level, a reflection about the principles of grammaticalization, as a possible explanation for the emergence of this discourse marker, as a way to surpass problems that are implied in the treatment of this category. O estudo é direcionado pela tese de que as TDs devem ser consideradas na investigação da mudança por GR, já que afetam ambas as perspectivas, interna e externa, de abordagem linguística: afetam a interna, quando esta pretende reconstruir uma diacronia única e linear, já que faz referência direta à realidade de língua concreta, conforme concepção coseriana. Comprova-se, também, a existência de uma relação entre processos de constituição textual... / Starting from a general theoretical approach based on the Coseriana conception (1975) of synchrony, diachrony, history and linguistic change, towards a particular subject, about one type of change that makes grammatical items/constructions emerge from lexical or less grammatical items/constructions, through the process of Grammaticalization (TRAUGOTT, 1995; TRAUGOTT and KÖNIG, 1991), conjugated to the analytical presuppositions of the textual-interactive perspective, established on a pragmatic conception of language and text (JUBRAN, 2006), and on a theoretical-methodological orientation based on the concept of the non-ideal diachrony and, consequently, on the concept of Tradição Discursiva – TD (Discursive Tradition), this research, linked to the “Projeto para História do Português Paulista” (Project for the History of Paulista Portuguese), analyses assim and its correlated forms: assim como, mesmo assim and assim que , as of the following: (i) its general topic function, specifically focused on the semantic and formal aspects and on the established processes of linking; and (ii) the processes of repetition, correction, paraphrase and parenthesis, in different Discursive Traditions – TDs. The study is based on the thesis which states that the TDs must be considered when investigating the change for GR, as they affect both inner and outer perspectives of linguistic approach: they affect inner perspective when it aims at reconstructing a single and linear diachrony, as it is directly related to the reality of concrete language, according to the coseriana conception. Abordamos os dois níveis de funcionamento desse processo – o intertópico e o intratópico. No que diz respeito ao primeiro nível, analisamos a complexidade intertópica dos editoriais a partir de três aspectos: (i) quantidade de tópicos discursivos específicos por editorial; (ii) grau de complexidade hierárquica; (iii) formas de linearização tópica. Quanto ao segundo nível, investigamos a existência de uma regra geral de estruturação interna de Segmentos Tópicos mínimos (SegTs) nos editoriais paulistas atuais. Na análise desses dois níveis do processo de Organização Tópica, procuramos discutir em que medida particularidades da Organização Tópica no gênero editorial estariam vinculadas a aspectos da finalidade sociocomunicativa do gênero. O material de análise compreende editoriais dos jornais Folha de S. Paulo e O Estado de S. Paulo, publicados ao longo do mês de agosto de 2016, e a investigação segue o método de análise tópica, que possibilita a análise textual com base na categoria analítica abstrata do tópico discursivo e na unidade de análise chamada de Segmento Tópico. Os dados revelam que os editoriais paulistas podem apresentar dois, três ou quatro tópicos discursivos mais específicos, organizados, no que diz respeito à complexidade hierárquica, em um ou dois Quadros Tópicos. Além disso, nossas análises mostram que o gênero editorial se caracteriza por apresentar a continuidade como a forma de linearização tópica predominante. Nosso estudo também demonstra que, no gênero editorial, o SegT mínimo organiza-se internamente segundo a combinação potencialmente recursiva de duas unidades de organização intratópica – posição e suporte, ou seja, nosso trabalho mostra que, no gênero em estudo, a estruturação interna de SegTs mínimos envolve a combinação potencialmente recursiva de grupos de enunciados que constroem referências centrais e agrupamentos de enunciados que constroem referências subsidiárias relativamente ao tópico discursivo do SegT. Defendemos que o funcionamento do processo de Organização Tópica em editoriais de jornais paulistas do século XXI está bastante relacionado com a finalidade sociocomunicativa de defesa de posicionamento crítico do gênero editorial e assumimos ainda que o caráter bastante fixo do editorial e a restrição quanto ao espaço ocupado pelo gênero no jornal determinam características da Organização Tópica nos editoriais paulistas atuais / In this work, based on the theoretical framework of Textual-Interactive Grammar, we present a study of the Topic Organization process in newspaper editorials in the state of São Paulo of the 21st century. We broach the two levels of functioning of this process – the intertopic and intratopic levels. With regard to the first level, we analyze the intertopic complexity of editorials from three aspects: (i) quantity of specific discourse topics for each editorial; (ii) degree of hierarchical complexity; (iii) forms of topic sequencing. As for the second level, we investigate the existence of a general rule of internal structuring of minimal Topic Segments (SegTs) in current São Paulo editorials. In the analysis of these two levels of the Topic Organization process, we tried to demonstrate to what extent particularities of Topic Organization in the editorial genre would be related to aspects of the sociocommunicative purpose of the genre. The corpus includes editorials from Folha de S. Paulo and O Estado de S. Paulo newspapers, published during August 2016, and the research follows the method of topic analysis, which enables textual analysis based on the abstract category of discourse topic and on the unit of analysis called the Topic Segment. The data show that newspaper editorials from São Paulo can present two, three or four more particularizing discourse topics, organized, in terms of hierarchical complexity, in one or two Topic Frames. Furthermore, our analyzes show that the editorial genre is characterized by presenting continuity as the predominant topical linearization form. Our research also shows that, in the editorial genre, the minimal SegT is organized internally according to the potentially recursive combination of two units of intratopic organization – position and support, that is, our work shows that, in the genre studied, the internal structuring of minimal SegTs involves the potentially recursive combination of groups of utterances the construct central references and groupings of statements that construct subsidiary references to the discourse topic of SegT. We argue that the functioning of the Topic Organization process in editorial of São Paulo newspapers of 21st century is closely related to sociocommunicative purpose of critical position defense of editorial genre. Especificamente, o objetivo é levantar, no corpus selecionado, todas as unidades que preenchem os traços de um núcleo piloto definidor de MDs e, então: (i) definir funções específicas predominantemente textuais dessas unidades, como forma de especificação da variável articulação de segmentos do discurso; (ii) definir funções específicas predominantemente interacionais, como forma de especificação da variável orientação da interação (JUBRAN & KOCH, 2006); e (iii) identificar as diferentes formas morfossintáticas que funcionam como MDs e, então, possíveis correlações sistemáticas entre as formas e as (sub)funções dos MDs. A investigação teórica preliminar permitiu constatar que diferentes abordagens de MDs compartilham algum tipo de função conectiva. Com base nesse princípio da conectividade, foi especificada, e, em alguns aspectos, reformulada a definição de MDs da GTI. A parte da pesquisa referente à definição de subfunções predominantemente textuais evidenciou a necessidade de estabelecimento de critérios precisos de distinção entre seqüenciamento tópico e seqüenciamento frasal. A esse respeito, mostraram-se relevantes os seguintes critérios: (i) grau de integração sintática e semântico-pragmática entre o segmento e seu antecedente, (ii) grau de integração prosódica entre o segmento e seu antecedente, (iii) grau de relevância textual-interativa do segmento no interior do Segmento Tópico. Essa parte da análise permitiu distinguir três subfunções predominantemente textuais:... / This study aims at refining Textual-Interactive Grammar (TIG) definition of Discourse Markers (DMs) based on both a comparative analysis among the main theoretical approaches on DMs and on the identification of common principles within such theories. The investigation aims particularly at searching the corpus for all the units which match the features of a defining pilot core and then (i) defining these unitsþ predominantly textual functions as a way of specifying the discourse segments articulation variable; (ii) defining predominantly interactional functions as a way of specifying the interaction orientation variable (JUBRAN & KOCH, 2006); and (iii) identifying the different morfo-syntactic forms which function as DMs as well as possible systematic correlations between such forms and DMs (sub)functions. The preliminary theoretical investigation has shown that different approaches on DMs share some kind of connective function. TIG definition of DMs was stated and, in some aspects, reformulated according to this connective principle. The part of this investigation dealing with the definition of predominantly textual sub-functions evidenced the need to establishment accurate criteria in order to distinguish topical sequencing and clausal sequencing. As to this, the following criteria have proven to be relevant: (i) syntactic and semantic-pragmatic integration degree between the segment and its antecedent, (ii) prosodic integration degree between the segment and its antecedent, (iii) the textual-interactive relevance degree of the segment within the Topic Segment.
