Um plano de ação para a promoção da sustentabilidade em uma instituição de ensino superior por meio de green campus: um estudo de caso da unidade Unisul Pedra Branca

The University of Southern Santa Catarina (UNISUL), located in the south of Brazil, has been seeking Brazilian legislation for environmental education and programs focused on sustainability, addressing an economic, social and environmental triad. Considering the object of study, green campus, a research analyzes the Unisul Solar projects, Unisul Energy Efficiency Project, and the Environmental Education Program, whose implantation occurs at the Unisul Pedra Branca Unit, linked as areas of science and technology that play an important role. Campus sustainability process. The author held a series of interviews with managers and project coordinators as well as campus staff. The intention is to raise declines of green campus actions have been implemented at the university, and whether they are aligned with a theory. To explore the elements that were not implemented or researcher used an observation tool, as well as informal conversations involving the campus operational. The results demonstrate an extensive challenge that a university faces and a difficulty in engaging and monitoring the projects. Considerando o objeto de estudo, green campus, a presente pesquisa analisa os projetos Unisul Solar, Projeto de Eficiência Energética Unisul, e o Programa de Educação Ambiental, cuja implantação ocorre na Unidade Unisul Pedra Branca, ligados as áreas de ciência e tecnologia que exercem importante papel no processo da sustentabilidade do campus. O autor realizou uma serie de entrevista com gestores e coordenadores dos projetos, bem como funcionários do campus. O intuito é de levantar quais ações de green campus foram implementadas na universidade, e saber se elas estão alinhadas com a teoria. Para explorar quais ações não foram implementadas o pesquisador utilizou a ferramenta da observação, assim como conversas informais envolvendo o operacional do campus. Os resultados demonstram um extenso desafio que a universidade enfrenta e a dificuldade de engajamento e acompanhamento dos projetos. Este trabalho sugeriu em termos gerenciais, a criação do Escritório para o Escritório para Sustentabilidade da Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina e um Plano de Ação para a implementação de um campus sustentável.

Towards the Sustainable University.

No / All universities have the capacity to embrace, embed or ignore sustainable development. Looking across the sector and reflecting on the past seven years and my own institutional experiences, the key finding is that change for campus and curriculum-based sustainability is clearly possible but unpredictable. For many years my own institution (University of Bradford) struggled to make progress in a number of key aspects of `campus greening¿ including recycling, green build, energy management, green travel, fair trade etc. It employed its first environmental manager as recently as 2003. Up until 2007, education for sustainable development (ESD) was largely found in one small academic department. Now, as this paper describes, it is a central feature of the learning and teaching strategy for the university and an overall institutional objective.
