Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited / The Tomahawk Land-Attack Missile (TLAM) is the long-range precision weapon of choice in strike warfare against strategic targets for U.S. military forces. Predesignation is the process of determining which ship or submarine will fire which TLAM missiles in support of an authorized attack upon specified targets. This thesis revisits the mathematical models and algorithms developed by previous NPS faculty and students to optimally conduct the allocation of TLAMs to firing units. We incorporate all the problem specifications addressed by previous heuristic algorithms for the problem, and compare our results to those in publicly available test cases. We show that our models can be solved optimally in affordable time for most of the cases and make provisions to establish accurate bounds in the other cases. / First Lieutenant, Turkish Army

This thesis involves modeling, guidance, control, and flight simulations of a canard controlled guided missile. The autopilot is designed by a pole placement technique. Designed autopilot is used with the guidance systems considered in the thesis. Five different guidance methods are applied in the thesis, one of which is the famous proportional navigation guidance. The other four guidance methods are different fuzzy logic guidance systems designed considering different types of guidance inputs. Simulations are done against five different target types and the performances of the five guidance methods are compared and discussed.

In this thesis, autopilots are developed for missiles with moderate dynamics and stationary targets. The aim is to use the designs in real applications. Since the real missile model is nonlinear, a linearization process is required to get use of systematic linear controller design techniques. In the scope of this thesis, the linear quadratic full state feedback approach is applied for developing missile autopilots. However, the limitations of measurement systems on the missiles restrict the availability of all the states required for feedback. Because of this fact, the linear quadratic design will be approximated by the use of projective control theory. This method enables the designer to use preferably static feedback or if necessary a controller plus a low order compensator combination to approximate the full state feedback reference. Autopilots are checked for the validity of linearization, robust stability against aerodynamic, mechanical and measurement uncertainties.

Abstract Title: The Relationship between Leadership and Organizational Culture Level: Master Degree in Business Administration  Authors: Al Hareere, Rafeh and Bekic, Kenan Supervisor: Maria Fregidou- Malama  Examiner: Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury Date: 2018-10-10 Aim: The aim of the study is to explore the relationship between leadership and organizational culture in a financial organization. The study has been conducted in Handelsbanken, Sweden. Method: The study is based on ten qualitative interviews with managers and employees in Handelsbanken, Mid-Sweden offices. We used inductive approach by comparing findings with existing theory. Result & Conclusions: Leadership depends mostly on corporate values and individuals´ personalities within SHB.  We noticed predominantly notion of transformational leadership, consisting of democratic, empowering and participative leadership. SHB´s corporate culture is strong and cohesive, resembling mostly guided missile type of culture. We argue that leadership and corporate culture affect each other, in case of Swedish Handelsbanken through employee motivation and empowerment and internal recruitment and development of future managers. Suggestions for future research: We suggest a study where the possible existence of transactional and laissez faire leadership could be proven within a financial organization as well as studies on other types of corporate culture and conducting similar studies within financial organizations to make comparisons between the organizations. Contribution of the thesis: This study contributes to theoretical knowledge development about leadership and corporate culture and the interconnection between them within a financial organization, as presented in case of Handelsbanken, Mid-Sweden offices. Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC), Wallops Island, Virginia is a combination of personnel, geography, airspace, and technology located on a barrier island off Virginia's Eastern Shore. First opened in 1985 as a US Navy, AEGIS Land-Based Test Site (LBTS), SCSC has grown to include the Ship Self Defense (SSD), and DD(X) combat system facilities to the site. SCSC is chartered to support computer program development, life cycle and in-service engineering, team training, and research, development, test, and evaluation services while adapting to evolution of US Naval combatants and emerging requirements. The purpose of this document is to present an analysis of existing US Navy shipboard and land-based organization business practices and apply them to the existing SCSC command organization. The objective is to combine US Navy transformation concepts and SCSC planning concepts to provide the documentation needed to support the development of new strategic business plans for the command. The goal is to provide a long-term strategy to transform SCSC into the US Navy's East Coast Weapons Range Facility or otherwise named, the Wallops Island Test and Evaluation Range Facility (WITERF), while maintaining its synergy as a LBTS for research, development, testing and evaluation of naval combat systems. / Civilian, United States Navy
