This analyzes has three main axes: first, it focus on the social space and objective conditions in which those intellectual agents moved and played on; second, it will be analyzed the process of mobilization as group in which those agents aimed to establish relations with the political field; third, the study also focus on the inner disputes amongst those agents who sought recognition and prestige as intellectuals in that institutional field. Besides that, in this analyzes the networks of those agents will receive special attention in order to understand their conflicts and disputes. / Esta tese tem como objetivo analisar a trajet?ria institucional do IHGRGS, desde a sua funda??o, em 1920, passando pelo auge do seu reconhecimento como espa?o leg?timo da produ??o do saber historiogr?fico no Rio Grande do Sul, at? a instala??o da crise institucional, quando come?ou o seu questionamento como centro da produ??o hist?rica local. Este estudo possui tr?s eixos de an?lise: primeiro, ser?o enfocados o espa?o social e as condi??es objetivas desse espa?o, os atributos sociais dos agentes intelectuais envolvidos no processo de especializa??o ou institucionaliza??o da Hist?ria no Rio Grande do Sul; segundo, ser? abordado o processo de mobiliza??o coletiva daqueles agentes em rela??o ao espa?o de poder, na busca por legitimidade; e terceiro, ser?o analisadas as lutas internas da institui??o, em que os seus agentes disputavam por poder ou por posi??es intelectuais, e, a forma??o das redes de solidariedade e reconhecimento.
