HTTP/1.1 performance from an embedded perspectivePersson, Hannes, Toft, Christian January 2004 (has links)
This paper is an all-embracing introduction to HTTP performance, which encompasses all areas of importance concerning application layer performance. We highlight seven areas to consider before implementing HTTP/1.1 in an embedded web server, these were identified by a careful survey of previous research. The highlighted topics are the new request methods, persistent connections, chunked encoding, byte- range operations, content negotiation, digest authentication and caching, all new or improved features in HTTP/1.1. We explore why the old design rationale of HTTP/1.1 has become obsolete in an embedded setting. We also suggest new guidelines which are more suitable for an embedded web server. / Hannes Persson, hannes.persson@mac.com Christian Toft, mda00cto@student.bth.se

SCTP - An analysis of proposed implementationsHedén, Mattias January 2011 (has links)
There are several weaknesses in the popular transport protocol TCP (Transmission Control Protocol). A possible replacement to TCP would be the newer protocol SCTP (Steam Control Transmission Protocol). This thesis presents three different proposed implementations of SCTP: HTTP over SCTP, online games over SCTP and IP mobility over SCTP. The proposed implementations are analyzed, based on relevant literature, and recommendations are issued on the importance of moving forward with them. The result of the thesis is that HTTP over SCTP is recommended. SCTP features such as multi-streaming, multi-homing and the four-way handshake addresses the inherent weaknesses with using TCP for HTTP traffic. IP mobility over SCTP is also recommended since it results in lower delay in the handover process compared to MIPv6 (Mobile IPv6). Online games over SCTP, however, is not recommended since the existing implementations of SCTP results in poor latency for the kind of traffic online games produce.

Efficient Reconstruction of User Sessions from HTTP Traces for Rich Internet ApplicationsHooshmand, Salman January 2017 (has links)
The generated HTTP traffic of users' interactions with a Web application can be logged for further analysis. In this thesis, we present the ``Session Reconstruction'' problem that is the reconstruction of user interactions from recorded request/response logs of a session. The reconstruction is especially useful when the only available information about the session is its HTTP trace, as could be the case during a forensic analysis of an attack on a website.
New Web technologies such as AJAX and DOM manipulation have provided more responsive and smoother Web applications, sometimes called ``Rich Internet Applications''(RIAs). Despite the benefits of RIAs, the previous session reconstruction methods for traditional Web applications are not effective anymore. Recovering information from a log in RIAs is significantly more challenging as compared with classical Web applications, because the HTTP traffic contains often only application data and no obvious clues about what the user did to trigger that traffic.
This thesis studies applying different techniques for efficient reconstruction of RIA sessions. We define the problem in the context of the client/server applications, and propose a solution for it. We present different algorithms to make the session reconstruction possible in practice: learning mechanisms to guide the session reconstruction process efficiently, techniques for recovering user-inputs and handling client-side randomness, and also algorithms for detections of actions that do not generate any HTTP traffic. In addition, to further reduce the session reconstruction time, we propose a distributed architecture to concurrently reconstruct a RIA session over several nodes.
To measure the effectiveness of our proposed algorithms, a prototype called D-ForenRIA is implemented. The prototype is made of a proxy and a set of browsers. Browsers are responsible for trying candidate actions on each state, and the proxy, which contains the observed HTTP trace, is responsible for responding to browsers' requests and validating attempted actions on each state. We have used this tool to measure the effectiveness of the proposed techniques during session reconstruction process. The results of our evaluation on several RIAs show that the proposed solution can efficiently reconstruct use-sessions in practice.

Dynamicky zasílané WWW-stránky / Dynamic web pagesKotlín, Jiří January 2009 (has links)
Serving dynamic web pages raises higher load of web servers and associated technologies. This can to some extent eliminate setting up reverse proxy with cache in front of the web server. The primary goal of this thesis is to implement this technique via presently most popular web server -- Apache. These Apache's proxy features were at first well tested and described, later practically applied in real LAMP software bundle enviroment (Linux, Apache, PHP, MySQL).

Topologie sítí a jejich monitorování / Network topologies and their monitoringSirotný, Miroslav January 2010 (has links)
The master’s thesis deals with computer networks, which are currently the global communication infrastructure and play a very important role in today’s society. Most of us can be unaware of how often we interact with these networks. We almost constantly come into contact with them. They allow us to communicate through the Internet via services such as: email, skype, icq, facebook, etc... The work focuses on the design and implementation of a robot designed for exploration and mapping of computer network topology and protocols HTTP and ICMP. The theoretical part is dedicated to computer networks, seventh and third-layer ISO/OSI model, protocol HTTP and ICMP attacks against DNS, DoS attacks and detection systems and avoiding distortaions.

In this work, electronic properties are determined, such as chemical potential, (μ), molecular hardness (η), Fukui index, f(r), electrophilicity index (ω) and nucleophilicity index (N), in series of: para-substituted phenols, 5-substituted indoles and 2,5- bisubstituted bicyclic[2.2.1]hepta-2,5-dienes. The data were obtained using methods derived from the Density Functional Theory (DFT), using the hybrid functional B3LYP, and the basis set: 6-31G(d), 6-311G(d) and 6-311++G(dp,df). The nucleophilicity index (N) has been obtained from its relationship to the highest occupied molecular orbital energy (HOMO) within the kohn-Sham scheme approximation. The index considered represents well the nucleophilic behavior of organic molecules that have a simple substitution, and in complex molecules that simultaneously show electrophilic and nucleophilic behaviors. Electrostatic potential surfaces are used to compare the results of electrophilic and nucleophilic behaviors of molecules.
