Dans cette thèse, nous démontrons que les automorphismes partiellement hyperboliques dela nilvariété non Abélienne de dimension 3 peuvent tous être approchés dans la topologie C1 pardes difféomorphismes structurellement stables, chacun possédant un attracteur et un répulseurcomme seuls ensembles récurrents par chaîne. Cela implique que ces automorphismes partiellementhyperboliques ne sont pas robustement transitifs. Nos constructions des attracteurset répulseurs requiérent une analyse des structures de contact invariantes, et des sections deBirkhoff invariante à isotopie dans les fibres près pour ces automorphismes. Comme corollaire,nous en déduisons que les holonomies des feuilletages stables et instables des difféomorphismesapproximants sont des homéomorphismes quasi-périodiquement forcés twistés du cercle, qui sonttransitifs mais pas minimaux, qui satisfont à certaines propriétés de régularité dans les fibres. / In this thesis, we show that all the partially hyperbolic automorphisms on the Heisenbergnilmanifold can be C1-approximated by structurally stable C∞ diffeomorphisms which exhibitone attractor and one repeller. This implies that all these automorphisms are not robustly transitive.Our constructions of attractors and repellers need the analysis of dynamical invariantcontact structures and fiber isotopic invariant Birkhoff sections for these automorphisms. Asa corollary, the holonomy maps of stable and unstable foliations of the approximating diffeomorphismsare twisted quasiperiodically forced circle homeomorphisms which are transitive butnon-minimal and satisfying certain fiberwise regularity properties.

Previous issue date: 1990 / Resumo: Cadeias quânticas finitas do tipo Heisenberg-Ising, com spin s = 1/2 e condições de contorno periódicas, são resolvidas por técnicas numéricas de uma forma exata, diagonalizando o Hamiltoniano com o método de lanczos até tamanhos N = 28 spins. Quantidades físicas interessantes, tais como a energia do estado fundamental, gap de massa, velocidade da onda de spin e funções de correlação são computadas leis de escala para as correções de tamanho são obtidas e comparadas com predições analíticas sugeridas pelo ansatz de Bethe e pela invariância conforme. Os resultados da computação mostram que em toda a região anisotrópica o gap de massa fecha-se exponencialmente com o tamanho. O estado fundamental extrapolado é duplamente degenerado e apresenta ordem de longo alcance com componentes dominantes do tipo Néel. Flutuações quânticas tornam-se mais importantes à medida que a anisotropia é reduzida, levando a um estado fundamental singleto sem ordem de longo alcance para o sistema infinito no ponto isotrópico. Neste regime, os efeitos de tamanho têm correções logarítmicas. Uma mudança no comportamento da velocidade da onda de spin é predito para N ~ 50, bem acima dos tamanhos disponíveis em um típico cálculo de lanczos. Tabelas e gráficos das quantidades computadas são apresentadas juntamente com valores extrapolados usando algoritmos padrões / Abstract: Finite Heisenberg-Ising quantum chains, for spin s = 1/2 and periodic boundary conditions, are exactly solved by numerical methods diagonalizing the Hamiltonian using the Lanczos method up to size N = 28 spins. Interesting physical quantities are computed, including the ground state energy, the mass gap, the spin-wave velocity, and correlation functions. Scaling laws with size are obtained and compared with analytical predictions suggested by Bethe ansatz and conformal invariance. Computational results show that the mass gap closes exponentially with size in the whole anisotropic region. The extrapolated ground state is double degenerate, and displays long-range order with dominant components of the Néel type. Quantum fluctuations are enhanced as the anisotropy is reduced, leading to a singlet ground state without long-range order for the infinite system at the isotropic point. In this regime, size effects have logarithmic corrections. A crossover is predicted in the spin-wave velocity behavior at N ~ 50, well above the available sizes in a typical Lanczos calculation.
