Para tal, além do estudo dos trabalhos de autores que se dedicaram a esta temática, as principais fontes pesquisadas foram as publicações de jornais da época. O recorte temporal corresponde à fase de redemocratização do Brasil, reconstrução da cidadania e inserção do País em um mundo globalizado, com tecnologia avançada, momento que alguns estudiosos denominam Pós-Modernidade (BAUMAN, 1998), ou Modernidade Tardia. Nesse período, o Recife apresenta desigualdades sociais significativas, altos índices de violência urbana e miséria. Em meio a este cenário, a cidade tem crescimento acelerado e desordenado, com adensamento dos bairros centrais e periféricos, destruição de grande parte do repertório arquitetônico edificado ao longo do tempo. Essas mudanças introduzem também o modelo neoliberal de tratar a economia e a cidade, que acarretam mudanças significativas à sociedade e aos modos de viver em sociedade, desdobrando-se sobre as maneiras de configurar os ambientes urbano-arquitetônicos. Pretende-se compreender em que medida podemos alinhar os fios desses acontecimentos à construção e percepção da cidade na contemporaneidade. Nesse contexto, as sociabilidades, enquanto maneiras de se relacionar, entre e com as pessoas, são postas a negociações e reflexão. / The present work studies the construction of sociability (SIMMEL, 1903) and socio-spatial relations in the city of Recife, between 1980 and 1989, approaching the thematic of apprehension to the concept of urban sociabilities and models of representation in the city. Therefore, besides the study of works from authors whom dedicated to this thematic, the main sources researched were the newspaper and magazines publications from that time. The time frame corresponds to the democratisation of Brazil, reconstruction of citizenship and insertion of the country into the globalised world, with advanced technology, moment that many scholars designate as postmodernity (BAUMAN, 1998), or late modernity. In that time, Recife evidenced significant social inequality, high rates of urban violence and poverty. Among this scenario, the city has experienced a rapid and uncontrolled growth, along with the densification of central and peripheral neighbourhoods, and the destruction of a large part of the architectural repertoire built over time. Those changes also introduced the neoliberal model of treating the economy and the city, which leads to significant changes to society and ways of living in society, unfolding onto ways to set up the urban-architectural environments. The intention is to understand in what extent we can align those paths that leads to those events to the construction and perception of the city in the contemporaneity. In this context, the sociabilities, as ways of relating, among and to the people, are put to the trading and are presented to reflection.
