This study historicizes the hegemonic social, political and cultural representations transmitted by the historiography of the northwest of Minas Gerais, particularly about Paracatu. There are five authors who have published literary composition on the city during the twentieth century. Such representations based the development of exaltation and glorification of memories of the city of the eighteenth century. In these literary compositions the elements that make these memories are identified: the golden age, the hope age and the age of great heroes of Paracatu which is responsible for the western people occupation as for the great crossroads of central Brazil. Whereas, it is importante to note that in this historiography some memories were silenced, erase by these authors.
