Estimate Value at Risk of Portfolio by Conditional-Copula-GARCH Method

Lin, Wei-fu 02 July 2007 (has links)
Copula functions represent a methodology which can describe the dependence structure of multi-dimension random variable, and has recently become the most significant new tool to handle risk factors in finance such as Value-at Risk( VaR) which was probably the most widely used risk measure in financial institutions. In this paper, Copula and the forecast function of Garch model are well combined, and a new method Conditional-Copula-Garch is built for measure the dependence of financial data and compute the VaR of portfolios. Copula-Garch models allow for very flexible joint distribution by splitting the marginal behaviors form the dependence relation unlike the traditional approaches for the estimation VaR, such as variance-covariance, and the Monte Carlo approaches whereas demand the joint distribution to be known. This work presents an application of the Copula-Garch model in the estimation of VaR of a portfolio composed by NASDAQ and TAIEX (Taiwan stock exchanged capitalization weighted index) stock indices.

The effect of intrinsic foot muscle strength on sprint, jump and balance performance among healthy individuals between the age of 14 and 55 year. A systematic literature review and narrative analysis

Jansson, Christer, Milton, Ludvig January 2021 (has links)
Background: The intrinsic foot muscles (IFM) have the potential to improve sprint, jump and balance performance by direct muscle power or indirectly by supporting the medial longitudinal arch. A growing number of studies show the association between exercising the IFM and athletic performance. However, there is no consensus if athletes can benefit from IFM training and inconsistent results are published. Aim: The aim of this study was to conduct a critical systematic review to evaluate the current knowledge of the association between IFM strength and performance in jump sprint and balance in healthy individual’s. Methods: Four data bases were searched for eligible studies. After screening for exclusion and inclusion criteria ten studies were included. The scientific quality was analyzed using the Joanna Briggs Institute ”Critical Appraisal tools” for Cross Sectional Studies, and a narrative synthesis was conducted. Results: The average quality score for the included studies was “moderately good”. The main reason for the low scores was insufficient attention to confounders and the use of non-valid instruments. An association was found in most of the studies between toe flexor strength/size and jump, sprint and balance performance. Difficulties in selectively measuring the IFM activity complicated the possibility to evaluate the impact of IFM on studied outcome measures. Conclusion: The presented study shows an association between toe flexor strength/size and athletic performance. However, to understand how IFM strength training affects athletic performance, both directly and indirectly, more studies focused on how to measure the IFM using valid methods for isolated IFM measures of strength and size is needed.

IFM EFFECTS ON PCM/FM TELEMETRY SYSTEMS

Law, Gene, Whiteman, Don 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 26-29, 1998 / Town & Country Resort Hotel and Convention Center, San Diego, California / Incidental Frequency Modulation (IFM) products in telemetry transmitters can be a significant cause of bit errors in received Pulse Code Modulation/Frequency Modulation (PCM/FM) telemetry data. Range Commanders Council (RCC) and other documents give little or no guidance as to acceptable levels of IFM for telemetry applications. The expected higher vibration levels of future high velocity missile systems means that IFM levels are likely to be higher than previously encountered. This paper presents measured data on Bit Error Rate (BER) versus IFM levels at given Signal to Noise Ratios (SNR’s) for PCM/FM telemetry systems. The information presented can be utilized with BER versus SNR plots in the Telemetry Applications Handbook, RCC Document 119, to determine the additional link margin required to minimize IFM effects on telemetry data quality.

Sýkora, Tomáš January 2019 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with construction and software of transport entities for testbed Industry 4.0. The aim of the thesis is to create a transport network for moving a glass with a drink between individual cells on a production table. A four-axis Epson SCARA manipulator is used to transport the glass and a conveyor with carriages is designed to serving the finished drinks. The first part deals with the description of used components and their electrical connections. The second part describes the program solution of robotic manipulator and programmable logic controller. The final part is devoted to the description of problems arising during implementation.
