Considering the incarnation of the Word, Jesus was entrusted to a family, whose father was Joseph, the husband of Mary. He was chosen by God to be the legal father of Jesus. In his role as foster father, he became the protector and support of his son. The research goes through the Scriptures, especially the Gospels of Mathew and Luke, which describe Jesus` childhood, in addition to the apocryphal writings and the teachings of the Magisterium of the Church. In face of the Theology on justice and the paternity of Joseph, a reflection unfolds on the responsibility of parents in the current days. Responsible fatherhood suggests the inclusion of differences. Where responsible fatherhood is present, responsible motherhood grows harmoniously with the integral growth of children. The theological reflection ends with pastoral implications. / A paternidade responsável é o tema central dessa Dissertação.
