The ecclesiastical institution's preoccupation with the laity's sexual life is evident. Sexuality is disguised subtle in pastoral sermons and advice. Sexual behavior finds itself under the church's tutelage, which tries to moralize and set regulations upon it. In order to understand the symbolic findings of the young parishioners in relation to the sexuality phenomenom, we attended cults every week for one year, participated in a few meetings, attended baptismal ceremonies, visited the church's site, and carried out interviews with seven individuals who belong to the religious community for more than one year. After collecting the data, we organized the speeches in thematic nuclei, defined upon work objectives and theoretical references. In order to analyze the obtained material, we used the Social Representation Theory, elaborated by Serge Moscovici. The data pointed out the young people' s conceptions of sexuality and to the official discourse of the church. Singles' sexual life turns into an obsession to the clerical hierarchy that tries to set regulations on romantic relationships. While the desire is obstructed, the laity's bodies parade freely through the temple, exhibiting their beautiful curves. The libido is, thus, simutaneously, inhibited and stimulated in the religious space. The institutional contradiction is flagrant / A pesquisa aqui desenvolvida analisou as representações da sexualidade presentes nos discursos de jovens cristãos, membros da Igreja Evangélica Bola de Neve. A preocupação da instituição eclesiástica com a vida sexual dos fiéis é evidente. A sexualidade aparece sutilmente disfarçada nas pregações e orientações pastorais. O comportamento sexual encontra-se sob a tutela da igreja, que procura moralizá-lo e regulamentá-lo. Para compreender as produções simbólicas dos jovens fiéis em torno do fenômeno da sexualidade, freqüentamos semanalmente os cultos durante um ano, participamos de algumas reuniões, fomos às cerimônias de batismo, visitamos o site da igreja e fizemos entrevistas com sete sujeitos, que pertencem à comunidade religiosa há mais de um ano. Após a coleta dos dados, organizamos os discursos em núcleos temáticos, definidos a partir dos objetivos do trabalho e do referencial teórico. Para analisar o material obtido, utilizamos a Teoria das Representações Sociais, elaborada por Serge Moscovici. Os depoimentos nos permitiram compreender as concepções de sexualidade dos jovens e o discurso oficial da igreja. A vida sexual dos solteiros torna-se uma obsessão para a hierarquia clerical, que procura regulamentar as relações amorosas. Enquanto o desejo é interditado, os corpos dos fiéis desfilam livremente pelo templo, exibindo seus belos contornos. A libido é, pois, simultaneamente, inibida e estimulada no espaço religioso.
