A partir dessa constatação, definiu-se como proposta de pesquisa a compreensão de como esse imaginário é apropriado e traduzido visualmente por essas produções via direção de arte e design de identidade visual, com ênfase no que aqui é chamado de identidade visual gráfica. Para tanto, realizaram-se estudos de trajetória histórica e constituição social da Idade Média, mapeamentos de cultura material e cultura visual na história da arte medieval, relações entre práticas medievais de trabalho e práticas contemporâneas de design, estabelecimento de figuras e formas do medievo, conforme metodologia proposta por Omar Calabrese (1987), mapeamentos de representações do medieval no contemporâneo e, finalmente, análises específicas do universo empírico da pesquisa, constituído pelas seguintes produções: a trilogia de filmes O Senhor dos Anéis, a série televisiva Game Of Thrones e o jogo eletrônico World Of Warcraft. Com isso, e com o resultado prático que integra a pesquisa (um guia de estilo gráfico da estética medieval), objetivou-se uma contribuição acadêmica na direção de auxiliar pesquisadores e profissionais da área no sentido da reflexão acerca das práticas abordadas. / This study is the result of an observation of the existence of a recurring theme and aesthetics of the medieval imagery in contemporary audiovisual productions. From this observation, it was defined as a research proposal to understand how this imagery is appropriate and translated visually by these productions via art direction and visual identity design, with emphasis on what here is called graphic visual identity. Therefore, it was made studies of historical trajectory and social constitution of the Middle Ages, as well as mappings of the material culture visual culture in the history of medieval art, and also relations between medieval working practices and contemporary design practices, and the establishment of figures and forms of the medieval, according to the methodology proposed by Omar Calabrese (1987), as well as mappings of medieval representations in the contemporary. Finally, it was also made a specific analysis empirical universe of this research, which consists in the following productions: the film trilogy The Lord of the Rings, the television series Game of Thrones and the electronic game World Of Warcraft. With this, and with the practical result that integrates the research (a graphic style guide of medieval aesthetics), this study was aimed to be a contribution in order to help researchers and professionals in the direction of a reflection on the practices addressed.
