For this, the attitudes and behaviors of the community, represented for students of an Institution had been evaluated, so that strategies and actions are traced that come to minimize the ambient degradation and to provide an aggregate sustainable development to the economic development. The objective of this research consists of studying the problematic one of the ambient management in urban centers under the point of view of the awareness, of the ambient perception and of the participation of the population, this because the ambient questions are inserted in the aspects that involve the practical life and the daily one, for what becomes excellent to understand that the environment is a right of all, therefore, must be preserved. The methodology used in this work constitutes in the application of a questionnaire with scales of the type likert contends variables that compose the acts and mannering aspects, beyond a partner-demographic scale. The Chi-square method was used in the analysis statistics de Pearson to verify the dependence of the associations between the partner-demographic 0 variable and the acts and mannering variables. The results point that the academic environment is opportune to deal with the subject, in view of that the ambient preservation goes for all the contents, and that the pupils of today will be able, in the future, in its areas of performance to plan action to safeguard the sustainable development. One concludes that the strategies to manage the environment pass for the awareness of the citizen, therefore when it is educated its attitudes will be more responsible, a time that the ambient concern will be present in its day-by-day. Therefore, the Public Power when planning programs of ambient preservation that comes to promote changes of habits of the population, such as: management of the solid residues generated by the population, recycling, programs of selective collections, ambient education, etc. the local community for the success of its actions will have to be involved / Este trabalho apresenta um estudo da gest?o ambiental em centros urbanos, considerando a percep??o ambiental como elemento necess?rio para desenvolver na popula??o a consci?ncia da necessidade de preservar o meio ambiente. Para isso, foram avaliados as atitudes e comportamentos da comunidade, representada por alunos de uma Institui??o de Ensino superior de Natal, para que sejam tra?adas estrat?gias e a??es que venham a minimizar a degrada??o ambiental e proporcionar um desenvolvimento sustent?vel agregado ao desenvolvimento econ?mico. O objetivo desta pesquisa consiste em estudar a problem?tica da gest?o ambiental em centros urbanos sob o ponto de vista da conscientiza??o, da percep??o ambiental e da participa??o da popula??o, isto porque as quest?es ambientais est?o inseridas nos aspectos que envolvem a vida e a pr?tica cotidiana, pelo que se torna relevante compreender que o meio ambiente ? um direito de todos, portanto, deve ser preservado. A metodologia empregada neste trabalho constitui na aplica??o de um question?rio com escalas do tipo likert contendo vari?veis que comp?em os aspectos atitudinais e comportamentais, al?m de uma escala s?cio-demogr?fica. Foi utilizado na an?lise estat?stica o m?todo Chisquare de Pearson para verificar a depend?ncia das associa??es entre as vari?veis s?ciodemogr?ficas e as vari?veis atitudinais e comportamentais. Os resultados apontam que o ambiente acad?mico ? oportuno para tratar do assunto, tendo em vista que a preserva??o ambiental perpassa por todos os conte?dos, e que os alunos de hoje poder?o, no futuro, em suas ?reas de atua??o planejar a??es para salvaguardar o desenvolvimento sustent?vel. Conclui-se que as estrat?gias para gerir o meio ambiente, passam pela conscientiza??o do cidad?o, pois quando ele ? educado suas atitudes ser?o mais respons?veis, uma vez que a preocupa??o ambiental estar? presente em seu dia-a-dia. One of the main factors that characterize the enterprise is his regional insertion, since it is located far from consolidated urban fabric, and near to an area connected to many highways, such as Dom Pedro I e Anhanguera. It allows easy access to the equipment by the cities of Campinas Metropolitan Region, and, besides, connects it with inner and outer points of the city. The location factor results in a growing quest for big areas with these characteristics, to build large equipments, since regional roads increase value to the surrounding areas. The insertion of great enterprises, near to these roads, results even more increased value, and the consequent development of the surrounding areas. This urban occupation patterns are typical of the dispersed urbanization process, verified at Campinas, which study is the base for the understanding of the changes occurred at the shopping around areas, after its implantation, and will be the starting point of this paper. / Este trabalho analisa os impactos ocasionados pela implanta??o do Parque Dom Pedro Shopping, na cidade de Campinas, sobretudo no que diz respeito ?s suas ?reas envolt?rias. Um dos principais fatores que caracterizam o empreendimento ? a sua inser??o regional, uma vez que ele se situa distante do tecido urbano consolidado da cidade, em uma ?rea conectada por diversas rodovias, entre as quais, as Rodovias Dom Pedro I e Anhanguera. Ambas permitem um f?cil acesso ao empreendimento, a partir de munic?pios localizados na Regi?o Metropolitana de Campinas, al?m de estabelecer conex?es com pontos intra e inter municipais. ? cada vez mais freq?ente a procura por uma ?rea com tais caracter?sticas para a instala??o de equipamentos de grande porte, j? que as vias regionais s?o importantes elementos na atra??o da expans?o urbana, valorizando suas ?reas envolt?rias. A implanta??o de grandes empreendimentos, pr?ximos a essas vias, resultam em mais valoriza??o e conseq?ente desenvolvimento urbano do entorno.
