It is almost unanimous among readers and critics that the work of Augusto dos Anjos has such peculiar characteristics that impart him an isolated position in the Brazilian literary tradition. The aim of this dissertation is to investigate the particularities of his work to make it possible to apprehend its main concepts and meanings. In our view, the eccentric ways chosen by the Brazilian poet were an answer to the period of stagnation in which the Brazilian poetry was situated in the end of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX. To dissociate himself from the love of belleslettres and the dilution of Romanticism that predominated in the scenery of that period Augusto dos Anjos established, in his poems, an intense and profound dialogue with Scientificism and the romantic literature in a negative configuration, opposing himself to the main foundations of both sources of inspiration. The ways this process was constituted, that we denominate negative assimilation, and its esthetical consequences are our main focus in the study of the book entitled Eu and the collected poems Outras Poesias.

Pirandello \"novellaro\": da forma à dissolução / Pirandello novellaro: from form to dissolutionDegani, Francisco José Saraiva 08 December 2008 (has links)
To study Pirandellos short story is a means not only of understanding the reason why he became one of the most important Italian writers of the twentieth century but also the role we play in the world and life. His short stories, based on ordinary events, make the great mosaic of our lives a piece of news, a love that has broken up or not even started, a gesture, a train whistle; situations that drive his thoughts, where many times we recognize ourselves. Successful play writer and novelist, Pirandello never stopped writing short stories: 251 along all his work life. According to Pirandello, a short story was the intimate, unique place, intended for the existential debates of his characters in the hard times of the beginning of the twentieth century. The short stories, brought together in the project Novelle per un anno, are of great importance to understand the evolution of the authors worries and represent the basis of his thought. The last short stories mainly bring new tools for interpretation to Pirandellos work and show a new, much more disturbing writer, many times not acknowledged by critics. To follow the course of the short-story writer Pirandello or novellaro, as he used to call himself connected with other aspects of his literary life, thought, and the time he described so well, is the focus of this work.

Previous issue date: 2014-07-15 / This dissertation has as a purpose the process of institutional and physical dismantling of
religious brotherhoods that existed in the City of Parahyba (João Pessoa/PB nowadays) in the
beginning of XX century. The churches of the brotherhoods of Nossa Senhora do Rosário do
Preto, Nossa Senhora das Mercês and Nossa Senhora Mãe dos Homens had been built
between the late seventeenth century and the eighteenth century when they had an important
role in assisting their members and their churches were landmarks in the urban situation. But
in 1923 and 1935 they were demolished pointing local historiography to justify this fact as
part of the works of urbanization and modernization of the city. However, this present
research comes to add new data of this history version which allows lifting up some
hypotheses about a convergence of Church and State interests that culminated with the
disappearance of these brotherhoods in the city of Parahyba. Documents listed in the
historical and ecclesiastical archives have revealed that the church had a clergy reorganization
proposal in Parahyba, involving the dismantling of institutional lay’s brotherhoods at the
same time the government proposed modernizing interventions that also provided for the
demolition of temples belonging to the same brotherhoods. We deepen this issue by analyzing
the most emblematic of these processes of dismantling and demolition, which was reported by
the local press under the title "the case of Mercês" which gained evidence by the clash
between the agents involved: the diocese, the brotherhoods and the government.
do século XX.
No entanto, a presente pesquisa vem
