Επίδραση της γωνίας πρόσπτωσης στη λειτουργία φωτοβολταϊκών πλαισίων σε τόπους μεσαίου γεγραφικού πλάτους

Σκοπός της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι η μελέτη της επίδρασης της γωνίας πρόσπτωσης της ηλιακής ακτινοβολίας στη λειτουργία φωτοβολταϊκών κυττάρων, σε περιοχές μεσαίου γεωγραφικού πλάτους. Συγκεκριμένα μελετήθηκε η επίδραση της γωνίας αυτής στη λειτουργία δύο ΦΒ πλαισίων ενός μονοκρυσταλλικού πυριτίου (sc-Si) και ενός δισεληνοϊδιούχου χαλκού (CIS). Τα πλαίσια τοποθετήθηκαν σε ταράτσα κτηρίου του Τμήματος Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών και Τεχνολογίας υπολογιστών του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών. Οι μετρήσεις ξεκίνησαν τον Οκτώβριο του 2009 και ολοκληρώθηκαν το Σεπτέμβριο του 2010. Τα ΦΒ πλαίσια είχαν νότιο προσανατολισμό δεδομένου ότι τοποθετήθηκαν σε τόπο του βόρειου ημισφαιρίου με γεωγραφικό πλάτος 38ο 32’ . Κατά την πειραματική διαδικασία οι μετρήσεις γίνονταν σε πολλαπλές κλίσεις κάθε φορά και για τα δύο πλαίσια . Μετρήθηκαν το ρεύμα βραχυκύκλωσης, η τάση ανοιχτοκυκλώσεως, η θερμοκρασία πλαισίου και η ηλιακή ακτινοβολία. Υπολογίστηκε ο βαθμός απόδοσης , ο συντελεστή ποιότητας και η γωνία πρόσπτωσης, ανά κλίση ΦΒ πλαισίου. Υλοποιήθηκε αλγόριθμος για τον θεωρητικό υπολογισμό της βέλτιστης γωνίας κλίσης έτσι ώστε η γωνία πρόσπτωσης να γίνεται ελάχιστη ανά χρονική στιγμή (μέγιστης παραγόμενης ενέργειας ) και έγινε σύγκριση της με τα πειραματικά αποτελέσματα. Διαπιστώσαμε πειραματικά την εξάρτηση της παραγόμενης ισχύος από την γωνία πρόσπτωσης της ηλιακής ακτινοβολίας . Επιπλέον μέσω της πειραματικής διαδικασίας υπολογίστηκε η βέλτιστη κλίση πλαισίων ανά εποχή για τόπους γεωγραφικού πλάτους ίδιου με τον τόπο των πειραματικών μετρήσεων . / -

Insights into the influence of solvent polarity on the crystallization of poly(ethylene oxide) spin-coated thin films via in situ grazing incidence wide angle x-ray scattering

yes / Controlling polymer thin-film morphology and crystallinity is crucial for a wide range of applications, particularly in thin-film organic electronic devices. In this work, the crystallization behavior of a model polymer, poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), during spincoating is studied. PEO films were spun-cast from solvents possessing different polarities (chloroform, THF and methanol) and probed via in situ grazing incidence wide angle x-ray scattering. The crystallization behavior was found to follow the solvent polarity order (where chloroform < THF < methanol) rather than the solubility order (where THF > chloroform > methanol). When spun-cast from non-polar chloroform, crystallization largely followed Avrami kinetics, resulting in the formation of morphologies comprising large spherulites. PEO solutions cast from more polar solvents (THF and methanol) do not form well-defined highly crystalline morphologies and are largely amorphous with the presence of small crystalline regions. The difference in morphological development of PEO spun-cast from polar solvents is attributed to clustering phenomena that inhibit polymer crystallization. This work highlights the importance of considering individual components of polymer solubility, rather than simple total solubility, when designing processing routes for the generation of morphologies with optimum crystallinities or morphologies.

In situ Investigation of the Effect of Solvation State of Lead Iodide and the Influence of Different Cations and Halides on the Two-Step Hybrid Perovskite Solar Cells Formation

Perovskite solar cells have garnered significant interest thanks to the impressive rise of their efficiency over the last few years to a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 25.2% despite being processable using cheap and potentially high-throughput solution coating techniques. Using the two-step conversion process high-quality perovskite films with high quality and uniformity can be produced, however, this process still needs a deeper and fundamental understanding. This thesis has shed light on the ink-to-solid conversion during the two-step solution process of hybrid perovskite formulations. We demonstrated that the conversion of PbI2 to perovskite is largely dictated by the state of the PbI2 precursor film in terms of its solvated states. We used several in situ diagnostic measurments such as grazing incidence wide-angle x-ray scattering (GIWAXS), quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D), and optical reflectance and absorbance all performed during spin coating, to monitor the nucleation and growth of crystalline phases, the mass deposition at the solid-liquid interface and the rigidity as well as the solution thinning behavior and the changes in optical absorbance of the precursor and perovskite. We compare conversion behaviors from different lead states by using methylammonium iodide (MAI), formamidinium iodide (FAI), and/or mixtures of halides (I, Br) and show that conversion can occur spontaneously and quite rapidly at room temperature without requiring further thermal annealing. We confirm this by demonstrating improvements in the morphology, microstructure and optoelectronics properties of the resulting perovskite films, as well as their impact on the PCE of solar cells using complimentary measurements such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and with steady-state photoluminescence.

Obtivemos a forma, o diâmetro médio e a dispersão de tamanhos usando espalhamento de raios X a baixos ângulos em incidência rasante (GISAXS). A partir dos dados de difração de raios X (XRD) foi possível obter a fase cristalina, o parâmetro de rede e o tamanho médio dos cristalitos. Estes resultados serviram como dados de entrada em um modelo para análise através da técnica de estrutura fina de absorção de raios X (EXAFS), a qual forneceu informações sobre a estrutura local na vizinhança dos átomos de Ge. Apesar dos resultados de cada uma das técnicas acima serem comumente analisados de forma separada, a combinação destas técnicas leva a uma melhor compreensão das propriedades estruturais das NPs. Através da combinação dos resultados tivemos acesso a informações tais como a deformação da rede cristalina (strain), a fração de átomos cm ambientes cristalino e amorfo, a fração de átomos de Ge diluída na matriz e a possibilidade de formação de estruturas do tipo core-shell cristalino-amorfo. Resultados adicionais como a origem do strain e a temperatura de solidificação das NPs, dentre outros, foram obtidos através de um experimento in situ de absorção de raios X em energia dispersiva (DXAS), inédito na análise deste sistema. Por fim, utilizamos as técnicas acima citadas para acompanhar a evolução dos parâmetros estruturais em amostras tratadas termicamente durante diferentes intervalos de tempo / Abstract: In this work we study the formation and structure of GeSi nanoparticles embedded in silica matrix using synchrotron-based techniques complemented by TEM images. Shape, average diameter and size dispersion were obtained from grazing incidence small angle X-ray scattering. X-ray diffraction measurements were used to obtain crystalline phase, lattice parameter and crystallite mean sizes. By using these techniques as input for extended X-ray absorption fine structure analysis, the local structure surrounding Ge atoms is investigated. Although the results for each of the methods mentioned above are usually analyzed separately, the combination of such techniques leads to an improved understanding of nanoparticle structural properties. Crucial indirect parameters that cannot be quantified by other means are accessed in our work, such as local strain, possibility of forming core-shell crystalline-amorphous structures, fraction of Ge atoms diluted in the matrix and amorphous and crystalline Ge fraction. Additional results as the origin of the strain and temperature of solidification of NPs, among others, were obtained through an in situ energy dispersive X-ray absorption experiment (DXAS), unheard in this system.
