This research raises the question of the effects of industrial policies on the localization of companies, more specifically in the case of France and of foreign companies investing in France. The dissertation studies the elements essential to company localization, first through statistical analysis, by comparing both France’s and French industrial policies’ attraction with countries investing in France; then through an econometric study which identifies the existing determinants of localization, among which we find the industrial policy set up by the administration in order to influence company localization. The statistical and econometric results show that industrial policies such as the company taxation system [Taxe Professionnelle] and the land settlement incentives [Prime d’Aménagement du Territoire] have little impact on company localization.

The political-economic analysis of Mainland China's industrial policy-study of motorcycle industryChen, Cheng-hung 28 August 2006 (has links)
After the World War II, the production of motorcycle gradually shifted from America and Europe to eastern Asia, in which place Japan has been a core. Asiatic states such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Taiwan devoted themselves into this tide, and Mainland China was no exception. Motorcycle industry in Mainland China, mainly responding military demand, was firstly found in the 1950s. With the changing of economic-political structure, private-owned corporations, both local and foreign, joined as competitors of public-owned corporations, and the market opened its door toward ordinary consumers. As a result, the production and sale of motorcycle increased rapidly, and in the mid-1990s, Mainland China has become the largest producer and market in around the world.
To response the rapid development of both industry and market, its government enacted ¡§Industrial Policy of Motor-vehicle¡¨ in 1994 and 2004, in the hope to lead this industry toward a proper way. On the other hand, a lot of local government, ignoring central government¡¦s positive attitude, enacted ¡§Banning-motorcycle¡¨ one after another, which has driven motorcycle industry into the very moment of live and death.
This thesis, taking Mainland China¡¦s industrial policy as the subject, theoretically based on state-central theory, combining ¡§Industrial Life Cycle Model¡¨, comparing Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan and Japan, analyzes industrial policy¡¦s important role and influence in the development of motorcycle industry to emphasize its intervention on motorcycle industry and market, and various tones played by the central and local governments.

A Study on the Application of Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process to IC Industrial Policy AdoptionWang, Chung-Hsiang 22 July 2003 (has links)
After decades of development, Taiwan¡¦s IC industry has become the world¡¦s third largest manufacturing center, and claimed the positions of the world¡¦s first largest IC foundry industry, second largest packaging industry, as well as second largest IC design industry. For an industry to be successful, in addition to the provision of various niches and resources from private businesses, it requires the coordination of industrial policy-making, peripheral conditions, and infrastructures. Therefore, to enhance current competitive advantages and facilitate industrial transformation for greater competitiveness, the government needs to make effective industrial policy to promote competitive environment. For this reason, this study intends to investigate the current competitive environment of IC industry, how the government responds in terms of stipulating rules and regulations, and what the primary concerns of policy adoption are. It is clear that aside from an effort by businesses, the assistance from government is pivotal to industrial development as well.
This study is an attempt to first, collect literature related to industrial analysis and policy; secondly, to analyze the competitive environment of IC industry and thereby find out the relevant policies that influence the managerial effectiveness of Taiwan¡¦s IC industry; and lastly, to survey IC companies and experts on IC industry by utilizing a questionnaire designed based on Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process. After prioritizing the concrete measures for a variety of dimensions of IC industrial policies based on the survey results, the researcher proposes top ten most emphasized including: the assistance in introduction of techniques, the training of technological talented, the aid in the development of SOC technique, the subsidy in R&D of innovative techniques, the accelerated depreciation on R&D equipments, the implementation of three-links, the tariff exemption for importing R&D equipments, the enhancement of National Defense Substitute Servicemen (NDSS), the training of marketing talented, and the enactment of patent rules. Accordingly, this study concluded by providing suggestions for government, IC industry, and future research.
