A market development program for small chemical companies

Ballance, Harry E. 15 November 2013 (has links)
Market development is that function of commercial chemical development which develops uses for products and makes the initial introductory sales for such uses. Large chemical companies have expanded their marketing activities through the use of market development departments. However, the information available for a complete market development study is widely scattered. By gathering this information into an organized program it may be used as a guide for small chemical companies in their marketing activities. / Master of Science

Consumer Satisfaction research in TV shopping industry

Hsu, Yung-Liang 23 June 2010 (has links)
¡@¡@According to statistics relesed by Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), non-store retailing market in Taiwan, including TV shopping, online shopping, catalog sales (mail order) and door-to-door selling, grew from NT$112.3 billion in 2005 to NT$152.2 billion in 2009, and the production value has grown more than 30%. The ratio of it to the total retail sales had risen from 3.6% to 4.6%. The performance is incredible. ¡@¡@Among non-store retailing, TV shopping is the fastest growing new method over the past few years. In Taiwan's TV shopping industry, the market size turned from a TV shopping company with NT$0.5 billion of production value in 2000 to three TV shopping companies with NT$51 billion in 2009. In early 2010, the entering of new shopping company, U-Life, caused a new competition among the TV shopping companies. In the meanwhile, sales of TV shopping industry in Mainland China had reached CNY$ 20 billion by 2008. In the next decade, the the growth of total retailing sales, market size of TV shopping in China will account for around 3% of the total, up to 500 CNY$ billion. ¡@¡@TV shopping presents the goods to the audience through the high penetration of television media, just like opening a department store directly in TV, in order to let the audience become the consumers. Comparing to store-based retailing which has been developed, the sales mathod of TV shopping industry created an innovative access to the general consumers. Therefore, this thesis explores among the service processes what infuences the consumer satisfaction while the consumers are undergoing TV shopping based on TV shopping industry in Taiwan and Mainland China, and analyzes the differences of consumer satisfaction toward TV shopping between Taiwan and Mainland China. ¡@¡@According to the reasons above, this research will first discuss the TV shopping industry development and take the consumers who have purchased any goods by TV shopping as the research targets and conduct telephone interviewing with the questionnaire and analyze the result. ¡@¡@The research shows that with the improvement of the service quality, not full-scale, but to reach the customer requirement, the sales performance will be improved with limited resources. Whether in Taiwan and Mainland China, service quality, product quality and delivery quality are the important factors affecting customer satisfaction. In Taiwan, consumer's repeat purchase intention is more influenced by the back-end process services¡Fin Mainland China, consumer's repeat purchase intention is more influenced by the front-end process of service.

South African school teachers' perceptions of sustainable tourism

Vosloo, Penelope Leigh January 2016 (has links)
Although much research has been conducted on sustainable tourism and the education thereof internationally, a limited number of studies have focussed on education of sustainable tourism in South African secondary schools. A literature overview identified various approaches to the education of sustainability on the international front. Despite South Africa’s reliance on the tourism industry, the concept of sustainability has received little focus in classrooms where this pertinent issue should be receiving attention in order to ensure that future sustainability is ensured in the South African tourism industry. From the literature overview it was possible to identify topics pertaining to sustainability in the Tourism Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement implemented in the Further Education and Training Phase (FET) in South African secondary schools. These assisted in the development of the research tool for this study. The New Ecological Paradigm (NEP), an instrument used to establish the level of environmental concerns of groups of people, also provided guidance in the development of the research tool. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the perceptions of Tourism educators in secondary schools towards sustainability. A framework to investigate this was developed and three hypotheses formulated. To give effect to this, an empirical investigation was conducted. Tourism educators who were successful in their application to mark 2014 National Senior Certificate Tourism examinations were included in the sample of this study. The result of the descriptive statistics performed on the data showed that the level of education of the respondents was the main contributing demographic that impacted on their perceptions of sustainable tourism. It is, however, of concern to note that a very low percentage of the respondents (6.2%) have received formal training in Tourism. This situation should be cause for concern for Tourism education in the Eastern Cape. Two of the three hypotheses were accepted. The researcher believes that specialised subject relevant training is required to empower educators to teach sustainable tourism in the South African secondary school classrooms in order to ensure future sustainability in the tourism industry of South Africa.

The United States sheep industry: producer behavior and supply response

Reeves, Jeffery G. 10 October 2009 (has links)
Regional and national supply models of the U.S. sheep industry are developed using economic and subjective factors determined from surveys of current producers. Breeding inventories are determined to be positively related to total returns per ewe and crop acreage harvested and negatively related to calf price and hay price. Breeding inventories are projected to decline through 1993 based on current information. The sheep industry is found to be more prone to contraction than to expansion and elasticities indicate a relatively inelastic response by producer in the short-run. Subjective factors are found to be important determinants of flock size. The supply function of U.S. sheep inventories is hypothesized to operate under asset fixity in reverse. Implications for further research are discussed. / Master of Science

Visual schedule simulation system

Skolnick, Jeffrey F. 25 April 2009 (has links)
Current planning and scheduling techniques are carried out in an unstructured form with considerable reliance on planners judgement, imagination and intuition. The final product of such techniques is typically a lengthy textural and tabular report and/or symbolic network. This serves as an abstract rather than visual modeling of the real construction process. The availability of advanced computer hardware and software allows us, today, to develop new planning and scheduling techniques to overcome the current limitations. Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is a computing system which makes extensive use of computer graphics. The use of CAD systems in construction presents a great opportunity for integrating engineering and construction processes in a more cost effective way. The combination of computer graphics, animation, and 3D computer modeling can be extremely effective for real-time simulation and visualization to support engineering and construction from the conceptual design to the construction process. This thesis presents a new planning and scheduling system. The system combines a construction scheduling network with 3D computer models to form a Visual Scheduling Simulation (VSS) of the construction process. The VSS system simulates, or put into motion, construction activities so they can be viewed at a graphics display. The VSS system allows the user to view the actual and planned construction sequence. The user has the option to view either: planned schedule; actual schedule; or both schedules shown side by side for quick visual comparison. The user has the option to visually simulate the entire construction project, or any specified time period. This simulation can be viewed for a partial segment or the entire configuration of the project. / Master of Science
