This thesis provides a development of integration from two different points of view. In Chapter I, a measure and a measurable function are defined. A theory of integration is then developed in Chapter II based on the measure. In Chapter III, the integral is introduced directly without first going through the process of defining a measure, and a measure is developed from the integral. The concluding chapter shows the equivalence of the two integrals under rather general conditions.

This is an expository thesis on integral domains which are not unique factorization domains. We focus on restoring a type of unique factorization using prime ideals within quadratic integer rings. In particular, we examine which quadratic integer rings will admit such factorization.

La presente investigación denominada “La Gerencia Integral como un Factor de Competitividad Institucional en SENATI”, nace en respuesta a una preocupación por los problemas institucionales, de carácter estratégico, que impiden a SENATI ser una institución pionera en la formación de profesionales del sector industrial. En la presente investigación, se analiza la propuesta de implementación de un sistema de Gerencia Integral, para efecto de elevar el nivel de competitividad en el Servicio Nacional de Adiestramiento en Trabajo Industrial (SENATI) mediante la creación de un Cuadro de Mando Integral o Tablero de Control Balanceado (BSC), el mismo que permitirá el apropiado direccionamiento del plan estratégico y los objetivos organizacionales del SENATI, para convertirla en una institución líder de la educación técnica a nivel latinoamericano. La implementación de la presente propuesta dependerá de la decisión de los directivos del SENATI. / --- This research called "The Integral Management as a Factor in SENATI Institutional Competitiveness", was born in response to a concern for institutional, strategic, preventing SENATI be a pioneer in the training of professionals in the industrial sector. In this research, the proposed implementation of an Integrated Management System for effect of raising the level of competitiveness in the National Service for Industrial Training (SENATI) by creating a scorecard or board analyzes Balanced Control (BSC), it will allow the proper routing of the strategic plan and organizational objectives SENATI to become a pioneering institution of higher education in Latin America. The implementation of this proposal will depend on the decision of the directors of SENATI.

Johannesburg, 17 October 2016. / The role of mathematical inequalities in the growth of different branches of mathematics as well as in other areas of science is well recognized in the past several years. The uses of contributions of Newton and Euler in mathematical analysis have resulted in a numerous applications of modern mathematics in physical sciences, engineering and other areas sciences and hence have employed a dominat effect on mathematical inequalities. Mathematical inequalities play a dynamic role in numerical analysis for approximation of errors in some quadrature rules. Speaking more specifically, the error approximation in quadrature rules such as the mid-point rule, trapezoidal rule and Simpson rule etc. have been investigated extensively and hence, a number of bounds for these quadrature rules in terms of at most second derivative are proven by a number of researchers during the past few years. The theorey of mathematical inequalities heavily based on theory of convex functions. Actually, the theory of convex functions is very old and its commencement is found to be the end of the nineteenth century. The fundamental contributions of the theory of convex functions can be found in the in the works of O. Hölder [50], O. Stolz [151] and J. Hadamard [48]. At the beginning of the last century J. L. W. V. Jensen [72] first realized the importance convex functions and commenced the symmetric study of the convex functions. In years thereafter this research resulted in the appearance of the theory of convex functions as an independent domain of mathematical analysis. Although, there are a number of results based on convex function but the most celebrated results about convex functions is the Hermite-Hadamard inequality, due to its rich geometrical significance and many applications in the theory of means and in numerical analysis. A huge number of research articles have been written during the last decade by a number of mathematicians which give new proofs, generalizations, extensions and refitments of the Hermite-Hadamard inequality. Applications of the results for these classes of functions are given. The research upshots of this thesis make significant contributions in the theory of means and the theory of inequalities. / MT 2017

O intuito deste trabalho é fazer uma análise sobre o processo de integração de funções. Existem muitas generalizações do conceito de integração abordado inicialmente por meio da integral de Riemann, como por exemplo, a integral de Riemann-Stieltjes, Lebesgue, Henstock-Kurzweil entre outras. Abordaremos especialmente a integral de Riemann-Stieltjes, e mostraremos a limitação da integral de Riemann no estudo de convergência de funções, indicando a necessidade de se generalizar o processo de integração. Faremos uma aplicação da integral de Riemann-Stieltjes no estudo de variáveis aleatórias e apresentamos uma proposta de abordagem, para a sala de aula, sobre o deslocamento e distância percorrida por um objeto em movimento retilíneo uniforme associado a área. / The aim of this work is analizing the process of integration of functions. There are many generalizations of the integration concept originally addressed by Riemann integral such as the Riemann-Stieltjes integral, Lebesgue integral, Henstock-Kurzweil integral, among others. We will be specially concerned with the integral of Riemann-Stieltjes and we will show the limitations of Riemann integral about convergence of functions, leading to the need to generalize the integration process. We will apply Riemann-Stieltjes integral for the study of random variables and present an approach to the classroom, on the displacement and distance traveled by an object in uniform rectilinear motion associated to concept of area.
