Fullt fokus på omgivningen : Framförandet av lastbil i stadstrafik utan distraktion

Larsson, Ludwig January 2023 (has links)
This is a bachelor thesis in Information design focusing on Interaction Design. Today much transport is done with the help of trucks, especially in urban traffic. In the project methods to move towards a result is interviewing and observation the main method of collecting information. The observation was very meanigful since it consisted of a full day together with a driver. This can be problematic in certain situations where it is crowded to turn around and a lot of traffic in the form of cars, cyclists and pedestrians requires full focus. If the driver at the same time is inexperienced and don’t have routine and knowledge about all the functionsadditional distraction is added. What can interfere and help from the truck's technology can be both good and bad. What can disturb and help is shown here, functionality and adaptation that support the driver are important elements in driving the truck safely. Reduced distraction is a goal to make it possible.

Gamification in Disc Golf : Using Gamification to Improve Disc Golf User Experience

Baeckman, Johannes January 2022 (has links)
Gamification is at its core a way to make a serious task more fun. This paper examines the potential use of gamification within the sport of disc golf and tries to determine whether a gamified variant of the sport can increase fun and improve the disc golf user experience. In practice, this meant creating and testing a gamified disc golf concept with the product's end-users, in other words, disc golfers.    The method used in creating the gamified disc golf concept was the Lean UX Cycle, consisting of the three stages think, make, and check. Working through two full cycles of the three stages, a mobile application was realized on which the concept was built around and used for playing.  The resulting gamified concept, named Disc Golf Party (DGP), was tested in one lo-fi and one hi-fi variant. The tests resulted in lots of laughter, and the common denominator seemed to be that the participants were having fun. From the group interviews held at the end of each test, mastery seemed to be the biggest motivational factor for regular disc golf. This, in turn, lead to the participants realizing that the fun factor in disc golf was heavily related to them actually playing well. From the user tests of DGP, it was clear that the participants were having fun, even when not not playing well. This indicated that DGP could be more fun in some sense when the player is looking to play more of a casual round. Even though several participants agreed that they were having more fun playing DGP, not a single participant expressed that they preferred DGP over regular disc golf.

Support systems for material handling in forklifts / Hjälpmedel för materialhantering med gaffeltruckar

Henriksson, Johannes January 2014 (has links)
The world is becoming more and more globalized. The transportation and trading of goods across borders are becoming more frequent. All this is putting greater demands on companies dealing with material handling and distribution of supply. Material handling with forklifts is an area which is associated with risk of accidents.  Statistics from both the US and Europe shows that damages to material and personnel is frequent. A certain area that is in need of improvement is the handling of material on high storages. These storages can be as high as 15m. When stacking and picking pallets at those heights it is very hard for the driver to get a good view of the pallet and handle the material in a safe way. There are several support systems available on the market today, to aid drivers with handling material on these heights. The question to be answered in this thesis is, how good are these systems and what systems should be recommended to users of forklifts? By the use of a literature study, where both available products on the forklift market as well as support systems from other markets were studied I got a good overview of available technologies. Using this information and methods for product design a number of technical concepts was generated. The concepts were limited to technologies that are available today. Because of that some technologies and concepts were overlooked. Most of the concepts consisted of a camera and a display used in different ways. A first evaluation of the concepts was made. Four concepts were chosen to be further evaluated. These four concepts were: Camera with guide lines Camera without guide lines Fork tip camera with guide lines No Camera. (benchmark) The concepts were then evaluated, tested and graded using the five criteria: Time (productivity), Safety, physical ergonomics, Usability and Preferred concept. The results showed that the concept consisting of the by TMHE used fork camera (2 above) combined with a new display and guide lines was the best support system. The result is fairly reliable because of the many different evaluation techniques used and the fact they all point the same concept. The validity however should be investigated further during a more extensive field test.

Exploratory development of a monitoring system for embankment pumps in agriculture : Utforskande utveckling av ett övervakningssystem för invallningspumpar inom lantbruk

von Kantzow, Wilhelm January 2023 (has links)
Embankment pumps are used to pump superfluous water from fields to mitigate the risk of damaging the crops. These are manually, in person, overseen to make sure they function properly. A monitoring system that lets the farmer oversee the pumps on, for example, their phone, is a potential solution to ease the management of the pumps. This work seeks to answer in what way the pumps should be monitored, and what are the challenges with developing such a system. Based on interviews with farmers, this work developed a monitoring system capable of monitoring the water level in a well where the embankment pump is located. Several challenges and lessons learned are presented and discussed. The interviews concluded that environmental factors are important to take into account when developing a monitoring system for agriculture. After the development, the lessons learned could, in large, be concluded to originate from limitations caused by the scope of a bachelor thesis, in relation to the project’s scale.

Learning Patterns as Indication of Training Pre-requisites for Simulation Based Research

Trinkune, Anna Marija January 2022 (has links)
In order to perform research using novel systems it is first important to distinguish if the collecteddata reflects the manipulations performed by the researcher or the fact that the system might beunfamiliar to the subject. Especially when using highly complex systems such as trainingsimulators, researchers should aim to begin their studies by ensuring that the system is fullylearned. The current study used a virtual reality simulation of a futuristic reconnaissance missionscenario to investigate how performance, mental workload and psychophysiologicalmeasurements changed during repeated training and how data would reflect an additional stimulusappearance after the system had been learned. The results confirmed pre-existing theories oflearning and showed that response to additional tasks after the system had been learned wouldfluctuate but not reach the same levels that were visible at the beginning of the training. Thissmaller increase in response could be assumed to accurately reflect the manipulation of thescenario rather than the novelty of the system.

Using Machine Learning to Connect Brands with Influencers

Hedlund, Jonathan January 2022 (has links)
With the increase of social media users, marketing through social media channels is becoming more and more important for large and small businesses around the globe. This form of marketing can be done in different ways. For example, through ads on social media platforms or by using influential opinion leaders (influencers) to reach out to a large number of customers. It can be difficult, especially for smaller brands, to navigate through the vastness of influencer marketing and find the right partner. This master thesis investigates how a process for brands to create a deal for a product/service they want to promote and how machine learning can be applied to recommend suitable influencers. Finding the right match is necessary for brands looking to take advantage of the rise of social media marketing. The thesis includes research of potential input and output for a machine learning algorithm, suggestions regarding which machine learning type and machine learning algorithm could be used, and presents a design of the deal creation process. The master thesis is conducted with the support of a startup company called Splick. Splick connects brands and influencers with an easy-to-use platform. Collaborations through Splick can be done with the help of affiliate links that track everything from clicks to sales. Every partnership is different since it depends on the brand, the influencer, and the type of product/service the brand is trying to promote. This makes it necessary to take a wide variety of metrics and benchmarks into consideration. The thesis found that a combination of metrics from the participants of the deal and the deal itself, metrics from various social media platforms where the influencer is active, and benchmarks from Splick’s affiliate link service would all be useful. The suggested output of a machine learning algorithm is common points of interest found in partnerships with similar brands and influencers that occurred in the past and turned out to be successful. Out of the machine learning types and algorithms analyzed, an unsupervised learning approach using Neural Network-based clustering seemed to be a viable way to proceed. Further research would be necessary regarding the presented machine learning approach to create a more clear plan for development and implementation.

Understanding and Supporting Product-Service System Designing : Preliminary Insights and Support for Designing Resource-Efficient and Effective Solutions

Neramballi, Abhijna January 2020 (has links)
This licentiate thesis aims to establish the basis for scientifically understanding and supporting the cognitive processes involved in the conceptual design of resource- efficient and effective product-service systems (PSSs). The research carried out is transdisciplinary in nature and includes both prescriptive and descriptive studies. First, the cognitive nature of conceptual PSS designing is investigated. Multiple pre-experimental protocol studies in a laboratory setting are carried out to do so. The cohort of these explorative studies includes experienced industrial practitioners conceptually designing a resource-efficient PSS. These descriptive studies provide quantitative insights into the cognitive effort expended by designers on various design issues and processes during conceptual PSS designing and its potential differences to conceptual product designing. These insights form the basis for future research that can eventually shine light on this complex process with statistically significant empirical results. Second, the essence of extant prescriptive PSS design principles, methods and tools is distilled through a literature analysis and synthesis of the state of the art. Subsequently, important aspects that need to be considered during conceptual PSS designing are consolidated in the form of a PSS design schema. Third, a design navigator named lifecycle-oriented function deployment (LFD) is developed. LFD is essentially a contextual decision-making support tool, developed to guide the conceptual designing of environmentally benign PSSs. This tool informs the designers regarding the potential environmental impacts of specific design parameters of an existing offering. It subsequently guides the designers in the redesign of this existing offering into a PSS with relatively benign environmental impacts. Fourth, the effects of the two proposed prescriptions are tested empirically. True experimental protocol studies are carried out in a laboratory setting to test the effects of the prescriptive PSS design schema on the cognition of PSS designers. LFD is applied in an industrial case study using the action design research method, to support the conceptual redesign of an existing product-centric offering into an environmentally benign PSS. Environmental impacts of the PSS concepts generated using LFD are then evaluated in comparison to that of the existing offering, using simulated lifecycle assessment. A semi-structured interview is carried out to evaluate the utility and usability of LFD, with the company personnel involved in the conceptual redesign process. This licentiate thesis is an effort to effectively design the future research work of the author. This future work will aim to support and establish generalizable scientific knowledge regarding the conceptual designing of resource-efficient and effective PSSs. / <p>Forskningsfinansiär: Mistra REES (Resource Efficient and EffectiveSolutions) program funded by Mistra (The Swedish Foundation for StrategicEnvironmental Research) (grant number DIA 2014/16).</p>
