Invandring och internationell handel : En studie om invandringens påverkan på svensk varuhandel med omvärlden / Immigration and international trade : A study on the impact of immigration on Swedish trade in goods abroadThorén, Niklas January 2019 (has links)
The immigration to Sweden has increased and that gets economic consequences – both negative and positive. The ambition of this paper is to answer whether Swedish trade in goods is affected by the relative large immigration to Sweden. The panel data that is studied is Swedish trade in goods with 50 different countries between 2000-2017. Several papers has studied similar problems but attacked the problem in different ways and with different data. This paper uses the gravity model’s basic ideas and then we modify the model with different variables, including immigration stock. This paper finds that immigration have a positive effect on trade in goods. The import tends to have a stronger effect than exports, which may be explained by the theory that exports effect is stronger after several years later. The theory that exports have the strongest effects several years after imports is supported by earlier studies.
