A Study of Interorganizational Knowledge Sharing in Information System Outsourcing Processes

With the advancement of technology, knowledge management (KM) has become more and more important in research and practice. In the research of KM, researchers believe that organizations are abundant in knowledge, and the sharing of knowledge can utilize knowledge well. Therefore, how to share knowledge stored in organizations and individuals is the most important issue. Recently, firms take outside resources as potential sources of firm-addressable knowledge. By interacting with customers constantly, firms can get lots of valuable information and knowledge, such as market information, professional experiments and communication skills. Our research selects knowledge intensive service firms as the subject of research and tries to understand the processes of interorganizational knowledge sharing within the development of the information project. First, from literature review we found that knowledge sharing is affected by four factors: project¡¦s background, characteristics of organizations, characteristics of knowledge, and characteristics of tasks. Because the processes of knowledge sharing are dynamic and complex processes, and there is no a well-defined framework, this research is an explorative research, using qualitative research method to carry out this research. This research uses multi-case research method to collect data from individual interviews and official documents. To analyze the data, we choose grounded theory as an analysis method to induce an explanative framework from our data. This research analyzes data from two aspects: affecting factors and stages of the project, trying to understand the factors affecting cross-organization knowledge sharing method and the progress of knowledge sharing in different stages of the project. We also found that information department will change the processes of knowledge sharing and two variations are found. Finally, this research concludes that the information department plays the very important role as a mediator for knowledge sharing, and firms can adopt it when there is a knowledge gap between firms and their clients.

O processo de territorialização da gestão de equipamentos culturais se apresenta como uma possibilidade de articular desenvolvimento cultural e desenvolvimento territorial, destacando o papel das organizações culturais num cenário mais amplo de atuação social. / Cultural facility designates cultural organizations of various types such as theaters, cinemas, libraries, galleries, museums and multipurpose spaces. Essential to activate the territories in which they operate, the cultural facilities are meeting points between the artistic production, the public and the city. However, managing these organizations has many territorial and identity challenges. The purpose of this article is to discuss the role of territorial identity in cultural facilities’ management as a strategy to bring together these organizations and their operating territories, establishing a correlation between managerial dimensions of the organization (culture, image and vision) and territorial aspects in order to establish more synergy between organizational and territorial identity. The research method adopted was action research, conducted with a group of cultural facilities in Salvador, involving also some Colombian cultural organizations. It is a contribution of professional nature elaborated for executives, cultural and social managers. The process represents an opportunity to articulate cultural and territorial development, highlighting the role of cultural organizations in a broader social context

Redes empresariais: um estudo comparativo dos fatores sócio-comportamentais e desempenho competitivo em duas redes de empresas do varejo alimentício / Business net: a comparative study of social and behavior factors and competitive performance in two nutritious retail s net companies

Among the complexity of the current competitive context the nets of companies have been emerged as an alternative for the prosperity of the organizations. The present study presents a comparative study of the relationships among social and behavior factors of the actors that compose two nets of supermarkets and their respective competitive performance. This study was based on two cases for which there were selected two nets of nutritious retail (the Central Mais net and the Unimercados net) that are inside the same economic text, the central region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The competitive performance was measured through survey in which the exploration of the relationships among the companies (27 companies of the Central Mais net and 15 companies of the Unimercados net) that make possible increments in terms of value change and creation and financial and structural increments was evaluated, relating it with four social and behavior factors identified in the literature as essential for the business net, which are: compromising, trust, cooperation and social connections. Starting from the analysis of the results it can be noticed that the duality of the coopetition permeated the interorganization relationships revealing the need of an interdependent view opposed to fragmented views. The social and behavior factors reflect that the actors behavior in the business net relationships could influence the competitive performance of the business net. The results also stressed the need of harmony among the real social and behavior factors in order to have positive influence on the competitive performance. One emphasizes that this study was placed in a reflexive way, mainly for being a descriptive study of only two cases it couldn t accomplish generalizations, though one suggests that the empiric deepening through multidisciplinary relational approaches in the field of business nets may bring significant contributions for this subject and even so to ratify the reflections of this study. / Em meio à complexidade do contexto competitivo atual, as redes de empresas têm emergido como uma alternativa para a prosperidade das organizações. O presente trabalho apresenta um estudo comparativo das relações entre fatores sócio-comportamentais, dos atores que compõem duas redes de supermercados, e o seu respectivo desempenho competitivo. O estudo baseou-se em dois casos, para o qual foram selecionadas duas redes do varejo alimentício (a rede Central Mais e a rede Unimercados), as quais se encontram inseridas dentro de um mesmo contexto econômico, a região central do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Mensurou-se, através de survey, o desempenho competitivo no qual se avaliou a exploração das relações entre as empresas (27 empresas da rede Central Mais e 15 empresas da rede Unimercados) que possibilitam incrementos em termos de troca e criação de valor e incrementos financeiros e estruturais, relacionando-os com quatro fatores sóciocomportamentais identificados na literatura como essenciais para as redes empresariais, quais sejam: comprometimento, confiança, cooperação e conexões sociais. A partir da análise dos resultados pode-se perceber que a dualidade da coopetição permeia as relações interorganizacionais de ambas as redes estudadas, revelando a necessidade de uma visão de interdependência em contraposição às visões fragmentadoras. Os fatores sóciocomportamentais refletem o comportamento dos atores nas relações da rede empresarial, podendo exercer certa influencia sobre o desempenho competitivo da rede empresarial. Os resultados apontaram também para a necessidade de harmonia entre os próprios fatores sóciocomportamentais para haver influência positiva no desempenho competitivo. Ressalva-se que o presente trabalho situou-se no plano reflexivo, principalmente por ser um estudo descritivo de apenas dois casos, não podendo realizar generalizações, todavia, sugere-se que o aprofundamento empírico através de abordagens relacionais multidisciplinares no campo das redes empresariais poderá trazer contribuições significativas para o assunto em pauta e até mesmo ratificar as reflexões deste trabalho.
