The notion of traumatism in lacanian teaching : logic of the concept in his differents versionsReyes Pérez, Pablo 07 July 2015 (has links)
The objective of this thesis is the elucidation of the notions of traumatism presents in the teaching of Jacques Lacan. This thesis has been divided into five chapters to answer this inquiry, each chapter is dedicated to analyse how Lacan approaches the notion of trauma, following a chronological perspective of his work. From a critical reading it presented the displacement of the notion of trauma, which is initially related to the desire to its articulation in the field of enjoyment. This change is intimately linked to the renewal of the concept of the unconscious in Lacan’s theory. In this research, the different versions of trauma identified led to the following conclusions. First, trauma is primarily an unconscious face to the real response that is at stake for all parlêtre. So, it is a singular response, an invention that allows the subject to give substance to his report to the body. Thus, the response is never traumatic standard, in the same manner as it is a traumatic event.Similarly, the traumatic experience is not homogenous in the parlêtre, which shows the different ways in which the body is involved in subjectivity. This experience can be approached differently if making event involves the body in its imaginary, symbolic or real dimension. Thus, this argument leads to the conclusion that there is no universalism to deduct from the traumatic experience, otherwise it is always a singular answer, by playing in the relation of the subject to his body.

Desvendando Lacan: duas metáforas e uma teoria psicanalítica da metáfora / Unveiling Lacan: two metaphors and a psychoanalytic theory of metaphorImanishi, Helena Amstalden 05 September 2014 (has links)
More than any other figure of speech, the metaphor has been a focus of attention for several intellectuals since Aristotle, always in the direction to adding to its particulars and functions. The interactionist theory of the metaphor had the merit to raise the metaphor, from its decorative and peripheral function in language, to its cognitive and structural functions in thought. This mainly cognitive dimension was progressively incorporated into science, through the uses of analogies, metaphors and models in the production of knowledge. This epistemological path opened by the metaphor allows us to revisit Psychoanalysis and the place of the metaphor within this knowledge. Our research has proposed a study about the metaphor in Jacques Lacans work. This study has focused around two paths, justified by the double role of metaphor in psychoanalytic theory of Lacan. In one path, we deal with a use that we can call epistemological, in other words, the way that metaphor was used to create knowledge, from two metaphors of Lacan: the optical metaphors and Edgar Allan Poes tale The purloined letter. We note that, although not always the terms of the metaphors analyzed present a one to one correspondence, they do have a strong resonance, given the large amount of theoretical developments made possible by this instrument. We conclude that the Lacanian metaphors work in the context of the invention of knowledge and serve as a filter, a screen from which the phenomena of the unconscious are analyzed. The second path our research explored was to discover which one was Lacan\'s theory of the metaphor, given the importance that this notion acquires in his theory being one of the basic mechanisms of the unconscious. We conclude that Lacan, to account for Psychoanalysis own issues, develops a new theory of the metaphor, which is distinct from the classical theories

Subject of Conrad : a Lacanian reading of subjectivity in Joseph Conrad's fictionJenvey, Brandon John January 2017 (has links)
This thesis examines how the fiction of Joseph Conrad anticipates and enacts the elaborate model of subjectivity that is later formalised in the psychoanalytic theory of Jacques Lacan. While modernist criticism has often utilised the work of post‐structuralism in reading key texts of modernism, the complexity and profundity of the conceptual relationship between Conrad and Lacan has not yet been explored in depth. Conrad’s work captures the impact and influence of emerging transnational capital upon forms of the subject in the later nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Further, his fiction is also sensitive to how nascent global capital structures forms of space that the subject is embedded within in their daily experience. I argue that it is the intricate and finely woven theories of Lacan that are necessary in identifying this area of the novelist’s work, as Lacan’s model contends with both the individual psychic structure of the subject, and, crucially, how the individual is located and constituted within the broader matrix of social reality. Using four of Conrad’s novels from his early period to the end of his major phase, the thesis traces the evolution of the various fundamental modalities of Lacan’s subject across Conrad’s fiction. I examine how Almayer’s Folly offers the key tenets of Lacan’s primary model of the subject of desire, while Lord Jim presents the transition of the subject of desire into Lacan’s later mode of the subject of drive. Subsequently, The Secret Agent is shown to critique the role of rationalism in the structuring of the subject’s consciousness, while, finally, I read Under Western Eyes as a tour de force of Lacan’s four discourses. The deep and fundamental relationship between the two figures’ work attests to their acuity in observing the development of the subject in the twentieth century, while the method of theoretical analysis also, on a wider disciplinary level, suggests and helps to confirm the continued validity of the mode of deep reading in literary interpretation.

A Psychoanalytic Study of Occupational Stress and Burnout among Public Relations PractitionersMartinez, Tiffany Adriana 08 1900 (has links)
Unfavorable opinions and images of the public relations industry have persisted for decades, and the industry still struggles to deal with them. Additionally, it is a demanding profession that is expected to grow faster than average but struggles to retain talent. Public relations research has also predominantly focused on how nonpractitioners perceive public relations. The present study psychoanalytically analyzed two movies with cinematic representations of public relations practitioners and 20 interviews with public relations practitioners to examine how practitioners' self-perceptions of public relations unconsciously influence their practice and expectations, as well as their stress and burnout. More specifically, stress and burnout dynamics were explored among younger and older practitioners and gender.

Fundamentos da prática lacaniana: risco e corpo / Fundamentals of practice Lacan: Body and riskHarari, Angelina 12 March 2008 (has links)
This paper is related to the Lacanian psychoanalytical practice and its theoretical fundaments based on civilization as support . Civilization impasses on risk and their incidences on the body are considered as they lead to a reflection about the practice of Lacanian psychoanalysis in our days, especially when new symptoms are concerned, since the beginning of the 21st century. The interest in sustaining, with our contemporary times, a dialogue aims to add fundaments to applied psychoanalysis, considering the relevant presence of psychoanalysts in the institutions. This paper is nor more limited to what is found in contemporary times to better situate, in the Lacanian practice, the concept of parlêtre (by letter made) from Lacans last teaching. We have also recovered the debate about universals, Pascals bet and the Hegelian myth about the master and the slave.
