Insere-se no campo da Psicologia Social, tendo como perspectiva teóricoepistemológica norteadora as leituras do Construcionismo Social sobre interseccionalidade e sexualidade. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida em duas escolas públicas do Ensino Médio do Estado de Pernambuco, localizadas em Santa Cruz da Baixa Verde, na microrregião do Pajeú, há 437km de distância da capital Recife, e outra na região metropolitana de Recife, no bairro de Boa Viagem. Teve duração total de aproximadamente dez meses, período em que foram realizadas observações participantes, anotações no diário de campo e dezessete entrevistas semi-estruturadas (oito na área rural e nove na área urbana) gravadas e transcritas, que compuseram o material analisado. Rural e urbano não são pensados como espaços dicotômicos, mas como espaços que agregam processos psicossociais que produzem subjetividades, formas de ser nos indivíduos que partilham desses contextos. Assim, ainda que existam elementos compartilhados pelos/as jovens rurais e urbanos/as, sua manifestação é específica em cada contexto. O pertencimento aos diferentes contextos e suas características produzem na vida dos/as jovens posições de sujeito e subjetividade e marcam a forma dos/as jovens relacionarem-se. Nas áreas rurais, a interferência da família e comunidade nas relações afetivo-sexuais dos/das jovens é tomada como parte do modo de vida rural, porém, os/as jovens utilizam diferentes estratégias para driblar o controle sobre seus corpos e relações. O viver em áreas urbanas e a apropriação pelos/as jovens dos múltiplos espaços sociais existentes possibilitam formas de circulação dos corpos nas cidades, de consumo, do sistema de valores, de lidar com o tempo. Assim, os/as jovens urbanos/as gozam de maior liberdade circulação de seus corpos e de exercício da sexualidade. / The objective of this thesis was to investigate the sexuality – casual and committed affectivesexual relationships – of young people living in urban and rural areas, through an intersectional perspective. This study falls within the field of Social Psychology and uses the Social Constructionism readings on intersectionality and sexuality as the theoretical and epistemological guiding perspectives. This research was conducted in two public high schools in the state of Pernambuco – one located in Santa Cruz da Baixa Verde, in the micro-region of Pajeu, 437km from the capital city of Recife; and the other in the metropolitan area of Recife, in the neighborhood of Boa Viagem. The study was carried out over ten months through observations, field notes and seventeen semi-structured interviews (eight in the rural area and nine in the urban area) which were recorded and transcribed. In this study, rural and urban areas are not thought of as dichotomous spaces, but as spaces that contribute with psychosocial processes that produce subjectivities, specific ways of being, in individuals who share these contexts. Thus, although there are elements that are shared by rural and urban youth, their manifestation is specific to each context. The feeling of belonging to their different contexts with their specific characteristics produce in the lives of youth specific experiences of subject and subjectivity, and determine the peculiar way these young people relate to each other. In rural areas, the interference of family and community in the affectivesexual relationships of youth is part of the normal rural way of life. However, these young people use a number of strategies to circumvent this control over their bodies and relationships. Life in urban areas allow youth to appropriate multiple existing social spaces, enabling them to have more ways in which the body can move in the city, more ways they can consume, more value systems, more ways they can deal with time. Thus, urban youth generally enjoy greater freedom to move their bodies and consequently to exercise their sexuality.
