S. Peirce (1839-1914), longe de ser uma ciência que explica a totalidade dos fenômenos abarcados pela organização da informação e do conhecimento, oferece conceitos fundamentais à Filosofia da linguagem e à Lógica, os quais podem lançar novas luzes à reflexão epistemológica da área. A principal questão teórica que norteia a pesquisa é saber quais as inter-relações teóricas e aplicadas entre organização da informação e do conhecimento e Filosofia e Semiótica peirceanas. Sustentou-se como hipótese que a Filosofia e a Semiótica peirceanas contribuem com explicações consistentes sobre os fenômenos decorrentes das atividades de organização da informação e do conhecimento. Para tanto, objetivou-se conhecer e avaliar as contribuições teóricas e aplicadas das Filosofia e Semiótica de Peirce para a área da organização da informação e do conhecimento. Trata-se de um estudo ao mesmo tempo bibliográfico e exploratório. Relata-se como resultados a presença dos níveis elementar e intermediário de interdisciplinaridade entre o pensamento de Peirce e a organização da informação e do conhecimento, principalmente, nos eixos Semiótica e Pragmatismo. / Abstract: The C. S. Peirce's (1839-1914) Semiotics, far from being a science that explains the totality of the phenomena covered by the information and knowledge organization, offers concepts that are fundamental for the language's Philosophy and for the Logic, each ones can launch news lights for epistemological reflection to the field. The main theoretical issue that guided the research is to know each are the theoretical and applied interrelations between information and knowledge organization and Peirce's Philosophy and Semiotics. The hypothesis supported is that Peirce's Philosophy and Semiotics contribute with consistent explications about the phenomena resulting from the activities of information and knowledge organization. Therefore the objective is to know and to value the theoretical and applied contributions of Peirce's Philosophy and Semiotics for the information and knowledge organization. It is at the same time a bibliography and exploratory study. It brings as results the presence of the elementary and intermediary levels of interdisciplinarity between the Peirce's thought and the information and knowledge organization, mainly, in the axle Semiotics and Pragmatism. / Doutor

Orientador: Eduardo Ismael Murguia Marañon / Banca: Mariângela Spotti Lopes Fujita / Banca: Eliana Serrão Alves Mey / Resumo: Trata-se de um estudo acerca dos sistemas de classificação bibliográfica, especificamente a Classificação Decimal de Dewey (CDD), um dos instrumentos de organização da informação mais utilizados em bibliotecas generalistas do Brasil e do mundo. Estudos recentes têm demonstrado que tais instrumentos não são neutros em relação a valores e aspectos culturais. Tais instrumentos são investigados à luz de uma segunda temática, a paz, e compreende os recentes avanços na concepção do conceito de paz e seus desdobramentos nos campos teórico e prático: a área de Estudos para Paz e o movimento de Cultura de Paz. Tem como objetivo investigar o tratamento dado à temática da paz na CDD. Especificamente, buscou-se verificar e analisar os conceitos de paz, o movimento denominado Cultura de Paz e o campo teórico Estudos para Paz nas 21ª e 22ª edições da Classificação Decimal de Dewey. Estas proposições pretendem responder aos seguintes questionamentos: está a CDD apta para lidar adequadamente com a organização de documentos cujos conteúdos se referem, primeiro, ao conceito de paz, em sua acepção geral; segundo, ao campo de Estudos para Paz; e, terceiro, ao movimento Cultura de Paz? Discute-se, ainda, a relação de influência mútua entre as sociedades e as classificações bibliográficas. Tratar-se de pesquisa teórica e exploratória, devido aos objetivos e à aproximação das temáticas propostos. Os procedimentos metodológicos e técnicos de pesquisa empregados foram o levantamento bibliográfico e a análise documental. A análise dos dados confirmou a hipótese inicial de que a Classificação Decimal de Dewey não está apta a lidar com os temas relativos ao conceito de paz, ao movimento social denominado Cultura de Paz e ao campo de Estudos para Paz. Por fim, considera-se que a Classificação Decimal de Dewey tem contribuído, ainda que de maneira bastante sutil, para a perpetuação de uma Cultura da Guerra. / Abstract: It is treated of a study concerning the systems of bibliographical classification, specifically the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), one of the instruments of Knowledge Organization more used in generalists libraries in Brazil and in the world. Recent studies have been demonstrating that such instruments are not neutral in relation to values and cultural aspects. Such instruments are investigated to the light of a second theme, the peace, and it comprises the recent progress in the peace concept and their unfoldings in the theoretical and practical fields: the area of Peace Research and the Culture of Peace movement. It has as objective to verify and to analyze the treatment given to the theme of the peace in DDC. Specifically, it was looked for to verify and to analyze the peace concepts, the movement denominated Culture of Peace and the theoretical field Studies for Paz in the 21st and 22nd editions of the Dewey Decimal Classification. These propositions intend to answer to the following questions: is it DDC capable to work appropriately with the organization of documents whose contents refer, first, to the peace concept, in its general meaning; second, to the Peace Research field; and, third, to Culture of Peace Movement? It is discussed, still, the relationship of mutual influence between the societies and the bibliographical classifications. It's about theoretical and exploratory research, due to the objectives and to the approach of the themes proposed. The methodological and technical procedures of research used were the bibliographical review and the documental analysis. Considerando o crescimento do acervo eletrônico a ser organizado, propõe-se investigar os princípios para uma estruturação temática adequada ao ambiente das bibliotecas digitais de teses e dissertações, com os objetivos de fornecer subsídios para elaboração de estruturas temáticas dentro do contexto da Ciência da Informação e identificar aspectos teórico-metodológicos de teorias com abordagem de categorização de assuntos aplicáveis à organização de conteúdos das bibliotecas digitais de teses e dissertações em instituições de ensino superior. Identificou-se na literatura, proposta de sistematização das tendências teóricas em organização do conhecimento em duas teorias: a macroestrutural e a microestrutural. Na teoria macroestrutural, os aspectos teórico-metodológicos são mais apropriados ao alcance dos objetivos, por proporcionar um agrupamento das teorias que parte das disciplinas até os âmbitos temáticos mais gerais para explicar a estruturação de conceitos, ao invés da teoria microestrutural que trata do corpus teórico como unidade mínima do conhecimento estudando, assim, a relação entre conceitos. As tendências teóricas existentes dentro da teoria macroestrutural, são: mapa conceitual; domínio temático; campos semânticos e as teorias terminológicas. A avaliação dessas teorias revelou a importância do contexto social e cultural, salientada em entrevistas realizadas com pesquisadores do Instituto de Física Teórica da Universidade Estadual Paulista / UNESP, na construção das relações conceituais da organização do conhecimento a serem aplicadas em ambientes digitais movidos por ações de interação, tanto no seu uso individual como na multiplicidade de atores envolvidos como são as bibliotecas digitais. / Abstract: Organizing the knowledge acquired in digital libraries is a global movement, which entails storing, preserving, providing access and disseminating scientific production. Considering the growing amount of electronic documents to organize, we propose to investigate and lay down the principles for a proper thematic structuring of the theses and dissertations in digital libraries. Our purpose is to provide help tools to elaborate those thematic structures within the field of Information Science and identify the theoretical and methodological aspects of the theories on thematic classification that can be applied when organizing the contents of theses and dissertations of the digital libraries of higher education institutions. Regarding the organization of knowledge in literature, two theoretical trends were systematized: the micro - and the macro - structural theory. The theoretical and methodological aspects of the macrostructural theory are more appropriate to reach goals, as they enable the gathering of theories from disciplines down to more general themes to explain how concepts are structured. The microstructural theory, on the contrary, concerns the theoretical corpus as the minimal unit of knowledge, and thus enables a study of the relationship between concepts. The theoretical trends within the macrostructural theory currently study the use of conceptual mapping, thematic domains, semantic fields, and terminological theories. The evaluation of those theories revealed how important the social and cultural contexts pointed out in interviews done with researchers of Instituto de Física Teórica da Universidade Estadual Paulista / UNESP, in the construction of conceptual relations of knowledge organization to be applied in digital environments moved by interactions, both in is individual use and in the multiple actors envolved - like digital libraries are. / Mestre

Os ambientes digitais favorecem a transposição dos limites convencionais de representação e disseminação do conhecimento registrado, incorporando novos elementos aos processos de produção, organização e recuperação de informações. Considerando as ontologias como uma nova e instigante categoria de sistemas de representação do conhecimento, buscou-se, a partir de um diálogo interdisciplinar, fundamentos que possibilitem analisar as aproximações desta nova abordagem computacional com os instrumentos e métodos tradicionalmente utilizados no área disciplinar de Organização do Conhecimento, investigando em que medida a área de Ciência da Informação pode contribuir para o desenvolvimento de ontologias e analisando os reflexos de sua utilização em bibliotecas digitais. Para tanto, foi realizado um estudo das principais teorias e tecnologias relacionadas ao desenvolvimento de ontologias e bibliotecas digitais, contextualizando-as a partir do corpus teórico da área de Ciência da Informação. Deste modo, foi desenvolvida a Ontologia de Informações Referencias (OIR) e um protótipo de Biblioteca Digital baseado em ontologias, denominado como BibliOntO, com o objetivo de analisar a aplicabilidade de ontologias em bibliotecas digitais. Como resultados, verificou-se que as ontologias possibilitam o desenvolvimento de novos tipos de serviços de informação e melhorias nos processos de representação, organização e recuperação de informações em ambientes digitais. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Throughout the last years, the increasing use of Technologies of Information and Communication (TICs) have stimulated a new gamma of informational necessities. The digital environments favor the transposition of the conventional limits of representation and dissemination of the registered knowledge, incorporating new elements to the processes of production, organization and recovery of information. Considering the ontologies as a new and riveting category of systems of representation of knowledge, we searched, starting from a interdisciplinary dialogue, bases that allow to analyze the approaches of this new computational approach with the instruments and methods traditionally used in the area of Knowledge Organization, investigating in what scale the area of Information Science can contribute to the development of ontologies and analyzing the consequences of its use in digital libraries. Therefore, a study of the main theories and technologies related to the development of ontologies and digital libraries was carried through, contextualized in the theoretical framework of the area of Information Science. In this way, the Ontology of Referential Informations (OIR) and a prototype of a Digital Library based on ontologies, called BibliOntO, was developed with the objective of analyzing the applicability of ontologies in digital libraries. As results, it was verified that the ontologies allow the development of new types of information services and improvements in the processes of representation, organization and recovery of information in digital environments.
