This master’s thesis deals with changing the geometry of the output section of the impeller of the radial centrifugal pumps and its influence on the characteristics of the pump. In engineering practice for these radial centrifugal pumps it is possible to change the parameters based on the requirements. This adaptation of parameters is called impeller trimming. Impeller trimming means the reduction of the impeller diameter thereby decreasing the flow, head and efficiency. Existing equations for calculating the changes in the characteristics of the impeller trimming are inaccurate. In this thesis is describes a possible method of putting for the recalculation characteristics of a pump based on the impeller diameter on the available characteristics of pumps.

The theoretical part is focused on the integration of the SINUMERIK 840D control system with other control systems, it contains informations about basic methods of NC programming and research relate to the field of materials used for the production of component. The practical part of the thesis includes the design and processing of technical documentation of the component, production technology and NC program. The output of this thesis is practical verified the function of the NC program by simulation in software SinuTrain 4.7.

Friction modifiers are a new effective way to control adhesion in wheel and rail contact. The aim of this diploma thesis is experimental study of the influence of the constituents of water based friction modifier on adhesion. Measurement of the adhesion behavior for different friction modifier compositions is carried out on a ball–on–disc laboratory device creating point contact. The introductory part of the experiments describes the effect of individual components on adhesion. Subsequently, combinations of different friction modifier compositions are tested. In conclusion, selected compositions are used for wear tests. The results obtained show that the performance of friction modifiers is greatly influenced by evaporation of base medium.

The result of this thesis is a functional device, verified in laboratory conditions and on a real track.
