Our objective é to approach the remembrance as a signal of the individual at the 7th Century bC. , was in his first steps to write about his inner life. The present work is a discussion about remembrance in three fragments of Sappho of Lesbos. In this discussion, the objective, the main objective is think about the way of approaching the question of remembering in the poetry of this authoress. We discuss the meaning of remembrance in the poetic context which has some resources like intertextuality and a new reading about the elements of tradition. Discuss about the question of remembrance is important because the lyric poetry of Sappho of Lesbos was one of the first moments in which the elements of inner life were considered as capable of being expressed in poetic production. / Este trabalho analisa questões concernentes à lembrança em três fragmentos de Safo de Lesbos. Nosso objetivo é abordar a lembrança como um sinal de que o indivíduo caminhava os primeiros passos no exercício de pesquisa da vida interior. O presente trabalho constitui uma discussão sobre a recordação em três fragmentos de Safo de Lesbos. Nessa discussão, o objetivo primordial é refletir sobre o modo como é abordado, na obra poética desta escritora, a questão de lembrar alguém. Para os fins desta abordagem, interessa pensar o significado da recordação no contexto poético evocado pelo eu-lírico, o qual se vale de artifícios dentre os quais a intertextualidade a nova leitura de elementos da tradição. Pensar a questão da lembrança se reveste de importância uma vez que na poética de Safo de Lesbos é um dos primeiros momentos em que as questões individuais são levadas em consideração enquanto passíveis de produção poética.

Este trabalho consiste de uma tradução comentada de vinte e três poemas gregos dos períodos Clássico e Arcaico. Essa tradução foi realizada buscando recriar o ritmo e a sonoridade dos textos originais, mas sem se afastar demasiadamente do plano do sentido, de modo que não é uma recriação livre. O trabalho é introduzido por um breve estudo a respeito do ritmo e da sonoridade, tanto na literatura grega quanto em termos gerais. / This work is comprised of a translation, followed up by a commentary, of twenty-three greek poems from the Classical and Archaic periods. The translation was carried out with a view to recreate the rhythm and sound of the original texts, without, however, allowing it to stray too far from the meaning, lest it would become a free recreation. The main work is introduced by a brief study regarding rhythm and sound, both in greek literature and in general terms.

Ao gênero epinício pertence o maior número de composições líricas completas do período Arcaico Grego conhecido atualmente, sendo quarenta e cinco poemas só de Píndaro. Ao se debruçar sobre as referências metapoéticas contidas em composições completas e trechos escolhidos de epinícios, a presente dissertação objetiva examinar as relações entre o texto pindárico e a concepção poética autoral que se pode identificar nesses poemas. A partir daí, buscase compreender como Píndaro elabora algumas imagens presentes em suas odes epinícias ao mesmo tempo em que estrutura, a partir delas, suas próprias concepções de poesia e criação poética. O trabalho inicia-se com um estudo sobre o gênero epinício. Seguem-se reflexões sobre os conceitos de poética e metapoética, para delimitar o objeto de estudo e viabilizar a análise dos poemas. A escolha dos trechos foi feita a partir da classificação proposta por Wells (2009), sem prejuízo da inclusão de outras passagens nas quais se identificou prevalência metapoética. Os poemas inteiros, que também foram selecionados pelo critério da preponderância metapoética, são a Olímpica 9, a Pítica 7 e a Nemeia 4. Fixado o corpus a ser analisado, as passagens e odes foram traduzidas para o português. Por fim, os trechos e poemas traduzidos foram analisados de forma detalhada, focalizando nos termos, imagens e topoi que aludem à poesia e à atividade poética de forma mais pronunciada. Palavras-chave: Píndaro, poesia lírica grega arcaica, epinício, metapoética. / Abstract: This work investigates what the Greek poet Pindar says about his poetry and poetics in his own victory odes, poems especially dedicated to celebrate athletic victories. To this genre belongs the most numerous group of complete lyric poems of the Ancient Greek period known today, forty-five of them by Pindar. Examining the metapoetical references contained in complete compositions and selected excerpts, this dissertation aims to examine the relation between the text and the Pindaric poetic conception identifiable in these poems. Thenceforth, we seek to understand how Pindar draws some images present in his victory odes while he uses them to structure his own conceptions of poetry and poetical creation. The work begins with a study about the victory ode genre, followed by reflections on the concepts of poetic and metapoetics, to delimit the object of study and to ease the analysis of the poems. The selection of excerpts was determined by the classification proposed by Wells (2009), and I have included other passages in which it is possible to identify a prevalence of metapoetics. The entire poems, which were also selected by the criterion of preponderance of metapoetical features, are Olympian 9, Pythian 7 and Nemean 4. Established the corpus to be examined, the passages and odes were translated into Portuguese. Finally, the translated excerpts and poems were analyzed in detail, focusing on words, images and topoi that allude to poetry and poetical activity in a more pronounced way. RESUMO Serão investigadas, nesta dissertação, as origens da democracia ateniense através da análise de quatro epigramas de Simônides de Ceos e da contextualização de alguns outros. Partindo do assassinato de Hiparco por Harmódio e Aristogíton e traçando suas conseqüências, tanto do ponto de vista mítico quando político, tentaremos demonstrar como o povo, agora identificado como mesmo ideal de igualdade perante a lei (isonomia), foi capaz de afastar tanto o perigo de uma helotização da Ática, quanto o de uma submissão ao império aquemênida, ao vencer duas batalhas decisivas, cujo relato foi preservado em inscrições que chegaram até nós sob o nome de Simônides por transmissão literária ou epigráfica ou ambas. Também iremos lidar com todos os aspectos relativos à composição, caráter e transmissão de cada um dos quatro epigramas comentados, além de fornecer uma tradução de todos os outros - incluindo os novos fragmentos elegíacos recentemente descobertos - que possam ter alguma relevância para o assunto em questão. / The origins of Athenian democracy are herein surveyed through the analysis of four Simonidean epigrams and the canvassing of several others. Starting from the murder of Hipparchus by Harmodius and Aristogeiton, and following its consequences, both mythic and political, we shall proceed to demonstrate how the people, now identified with the same democratic ideal, was able to eschew both the danger of helotization by Sparta and submission by the Persian Empire by its winning two decisive battles recorded in inscriptions that came down to us either through literary or epigraphical transmission or both. We shall also deal with all aspects surrounding the composition, nature and transmission of each of the four epigrams, besides providing a translation of all other epigrams - including the newly discovered elegiac fragments - that may bear any relevancy to the subject under appreciation.
