The social politics of Lithuania tends to be directed at the needs of the people. One of the main purposes of European Union is equality of members of society. Across all Europe intellectually disabled people still encounter prejudices and serious obstacles trying to take advantage of human rights, which are guaranteed by the law. It is very important to give real possibilities for intellectually disabled people to learn and to work in order to make sure that they will be able to live and work in the community as equal members of society. If they are not able to make use of their rights, they become dependant on others, live in poverty, experience social isolation, their disability could deepen. The employment of intellectually disabled people – it’s a problem about which society avoids to talk. While economy is not stable ant even for the healthy person it is difficult to find a job, the society holds an attitude that it is too early to talk about the employment of intellectually disabled people and it is unbelievable that such a person could find a job. Adequate law basis that regulate rights of disabled people is already created on Lithuania. It corresponds to economic possibilities of the country and strives for realization of the needs of disabled people. In the Lithuanian law basis there are no special law acts that regulate the employment system of intellectually disabled people, guarantees for activity.
