His actions were connected basically to two struggle fronts: for the Brazilian industrialization through the First Republic and for the social and labor issue, both inseparable, for him, to the modernization of Brazil. In his first acting field, in defense of the national industry, he has dealt with the tax issues being for an international trading protection minimum policy to the national production. It is important to remember, though, that for Jorge Street such protection should not be limited, only, to the industries, but also to agriculture, cattle business and extracting, because only this way the Brazilian economical freedom will be able to happen. Concerning the second theme, the social issue, Jorge Street has tried to conciliate capital and work through an interest harmony between the industrial high class and the working class. For that, he has tried to change the way to deal with workers, mainly in industries, which was considered too modern at the time he was alive. Thus, to apply his social and industrial development political project, he associated the economical issues to the social ones. This association between the economical and political issues in the struggle for the industrialization of Brazil is one of Jorge Street´s distinctive traces / Propõe-se neste trabalho uma reflexão sobre o projeto industrial e social de Jorge Luís Gustavo Street, industrialista brasileiro que teve ampla atuação junto a seus pares, às entidades classistas, à classe operária e ao Estado. Suas ações estiveram voltadas basicamente para duas frentes de luta: pela industrialização brasileira ao longo da Primeira República e pela questão social e trabalhista, ambas indissociáveis, para ele, da modernização do Brasil. No primeiro campo de atuação, em defesa da indústria nacional, tratou das questões tarifárias advogando uma política mínima de proteção aduaneira à produção nacional. É importante lembrar, porém, que para Jorge Street tal proteção não deveria se limitar, apenas, às indústrias, mas também à agricultura, pecuária e ao extrativismo, pois somente dessa maneira é que se conseguiria o que denominava emancipação econômica do Brasil. Com relação ao segundo tema, a questão social, Jorge Street buscou uma conciliação entre capital e trabalho por meio de uma harmonia de interesses entre a burguesia industrial e o operariado. Para tanto, procurou alterar a maneira de lidar com os trabalhadores, principalmente das indústrias, que foi considerada bastante moderna na época em que viveu. Assim, para colocar seu projeto político de desenvolvimento industrial e social em prática associou as questões econômicas às questões sociais.
