Brasil, juntamente com dados sobre diferentes níveis de interações ecológicas das comunidades ictilcas. Coletas foram realizadas mensalmente no período de Janeiro\92 a dezembro\92 em 6 unidades amostrais fixas, demarcadas ao longo do rio principal e em tributários. Para a captura foram utiizadas rede-de-arrasto manual, tarrafas e peneiras, com esforços amostrais padronizados e constantes. Dados qualitativos complementares foram obtidos em amostragens aleatórias efetuadas em outras 9 unidades amostrais (U.A). As áreas foram caracterizadas considerando a ordem, a largura e a profundidade dos rios, a altitude. a presença de vegetação ripária e a velocidade, o nível e a salinidade da água. Dados pluviométricos foram fornecidos pela Companhia de Pesquisa de Recursos Minerais (CPRM). Foram analisadas a constância, a abundância relativa, o hábito alimentar e a distribuição micro e meso-espacial das espécies coletadas em amostragens quantitativas. Estudos de comunidades foram elaborados considerando sua organização qualitativa e quantitativa, em plano espaço/temporal, de variáveis taxonômicas e tróficas, utilizando diferentes métodos estatísticos de estimativa de associação. As menores alterações temporais nas características ambientais foram constatadas na unidade amostral demarcada na cabeceira do rio. Alterações mais intensas ocorreram na maioria... / In this paper informations about the taxonomic composition of the fish assemblages that inhabit the river São João Basin, RJ are presented, together with data concerning different levels of ecological relationships observed in the fish communities. Samples were taken monthly from January/1992 to December/1992 in 6 sample units, which were selected along the river channel and in 3 tributaries. Fishes were captured using manual seine-nets, cast-nets and sieves, with standardized catch efforts. Complementary qualitative data were obtained in random samples carried out in 9 additional sample units. Sample units were characterized considering the order, width, height and depth of the rivers, the presence\absence of riparian vegetation and the water speed, level and salinity. Pluviometric data were furnished by Companhia de Pesquisa de Recursos Minerais (CPRM). The constancy, relative abundance, feeding habits and the micro and meso-spatial distribution were analyzed for each species collected in quantitative samples. Community studies were made considering its qualitative and quantitative organization in taxonomic and trophic levels, applying various statistical methods of association.
