The subjects were the Regional Director, school managers, teachers, parents, community leaders and students of elementary (stages I and II) and high schools, from eight public state schools belonging to the Regional Directory of Education of José Bonifácio. In the first half of 2009, questionnaires with closed questions were administered to the sample subjects. Through a stratified sample, which criterion was the school size (small, medium and large), the general situation of eight public school libraries of the Regional Directory of Education of José Bonifácio was analysed. The data analysis revealed the precariousness of the school libraries of the state public schools of the Regional Directory of Education of José Bonifácio, whether the schools were large, medium or small. This problem was also found both in relation to the lack of adequate physical space, equipment, human resources and bibliographical resources, and by the poor availability of such resources for the school and local community, in addition to the insignificant contribution to its cultural and professional enrichment. Despite this precarious situation, school managers and teachers look for alternatives to develop the school projects, but with unsatisfactory results for both professionals and students. Even in schools where there is a library, not always it is frequented by local and school community. This research intended to help school managers, teachers, students, parents and local community to become aware of the precariousness of school libraries and to recognize the importance of their role in the educational process. / Esta pesquisa objetivou verificar a disponibilidade e a disponibilização de recursos informacionais e virtuais nas bibliotecas de escolas públicas para o aprimoramento do trabalho pedagógico da escola, bem como avaliar sua contribuição para o enriquecimento cultural e profissional da comunidade escolar e local. Foram sujeitos da pesquisa o Dirigente Regional de Ensino, Supervisores de Ensino, Assistentes Técnicos Pedagógicos (ATP), Gestores, Professores, Pais de alunos, Lideranças da Comunidade e Alunos do Ensino Fundamental (Ciclo I e II) e Ensino Médio, de oito Escolas Públicas Estaduais que pertencem à Diretoria Regional de Ensino de José Bonifácio. Aos sujeitos da amostra foram aplicados questionários com perguntas fechadas, no primeiro semestre de 2009. Por meio de amostra estratificada, cujo critério foi o tamanho das escolas (pequena, média e grande) verificou-se a situação geral de oito bibliotecas públicas escolares da Diretoria Regional de Ensino de José Bonifácio. A análise dos dados evidenciou a precariedade das bibliotecas das escolas estaduais da Diretoria regional de Ensino de José Bonifácio, independentemente de as escolas serem grandes, médias ou pequenas. Tal problema foi constatado, tanto com relação à falta de espaço físico adequado, equipamentos, recursos humanos e recursos bibliográficos, como pela deficiente disponibilização de tais recursos para a comunidade escolar e local, além da insignificante contribuição para seu enriquecimento cultural e profissional. Apesar de tal situação, gestores e docentes buscam alternativas para desenvolver os projetos da escola, mas com resultados insatisfatórios tanto para os profissionais como para os alunos. Mesmo nas escolas em que há biblioteca, nem sempre ela é frequentada pela comunidade escolar e local. Esta pesquisa pretendeu contribuir para que gestores, professores, alunos, pais de alunos e comunidade local tomem conhecimento da precariedade das bibliotecas escolares e reconheçam a importância de seu papel no processo educacional.

Em entrevistas realizadas no período de junho de 2014 a fevereiro de 2015, foram levantadas questões sobre a possível crise institucional na atualidade, o impacto das tecnologias de informação e comunicação (TICs), a situação das bibliotecas brasileiras e sua relação com a comunidade, além das expectativas sobre um Plano específico para a área. Para embasar o levantamento empírico, percorreu-se brevemente a literatura que aborda a história da instituição, revelando como esta tem se adaptado ao contexto, refletindo tempo e espaço, e mudado a visão de sua relação com o seu público, a sua comunidade. Como o tema tem sido tratado na literatura internacional também foi considerado. A literatura apontou para temas que contribuem para um novo entendimento da instituição no uso das TICs, na formação de cidadania e nas relações com a comunidade, neste sentido aparecendo em destaque a ideia de biblioteca pública, como criadora de capital social. Em relação às bibliotecas brasileiras foram abordados o pensamento e a atuação de três intelectuais que refletiram e atuaram na área da biblioteca pública. Foi, também, analisada a evolução das políticas para a área, sendo estas exemplificadas com as boas práticas em bibliotecas públicas. A partir da base oferecida pela literatura foi elaborada a metodologia a ser empregada nas entrevistas. Optou-se pela aplicação de entrevista semiestruturada visando possibilitar aos entrevistados liberdade na formulação das respostas. As opiniões dos entrevistados destacam a má situação das bibliotecas públicas brasileiras, tendo sido oferecido nos depoimentos diversos ângulos para o entendimento da invisibilidade institucional na perspectiva das suas comunidades e do desprestígio político da biblioteca pública brasileira / The thesis was focused on the situation of Brazilian public libraries, from the perspective of political actors and researchers who, in some way, were or are still connected to these institutions. In interviews performed from June 2014 to February 2015, questions were raised about the possible institutional crisis today, the impact of information and communication technologies (ICTs), the situation of Brazilian libraries and their relationship with the community, as well as expectations on a specific plan for the area. To support the empirical survey, it toured briefly the literature addressing the institution's history, showing how it has always been adapted to its context, and the view of its relationship with its audience, its community, has also changed. The literature pointed to issues that contribute to a new understanding of the institution in the use of ICTs in the formation of citizenship and relations with the community, to that effect appearing highlighted the idea of public library, as creator of social capital. Regarding the Brazilian libraries, the thought and action of three outstanding intellectuals who reflected and acted in the public library area were considered. The development of policies for the area was also analyzed, and illustrated with good practice in public libraries. The methodology adopted was semi-structured interviews aiming to allow respondents freedom in formulating the answers. The opinions of respondents highlight the plight of Brazilian public libraries, and offer different angles to understand the institutional invisibility and its lack of prestige.

Nová synagoga Opava / New synagogue in Opava

The thesis deals with the design of a new synagogue in Opava. The location is defined on the site of a former synagogue near the city behind no longer existing city walls, as was typical for the location of Jewish communities. The site of the original fortification is now largely taken by a strip of urban orchards, with the historic building of the Breda department store as the imaginary ending. The fact that the intended location adjoins these orchards played an important role in the design proposal. Another important factor entering the design proposal was the surrounding block of flats. From these input factors, the concept of arranging the territory was created, resulting in creating a semi-open block towards the green circular belt, in which the solitary building of the new synagogue is located in its central location. The building of the community center completing the existing block of flats forms rather the background for this synagogue. The concept of the synagogue building itself did not result from a particular symbol, but rather from abstraction that I perceive as typical of religious belief, because even the Holy Scripture is merely an interpretation of certain events that everyone can imagine differently when reading or interpreting them. The object of the synagogue is thus levitated in a cloud changing according to the angle of view. It is more or less obvious – is or is not. The overlap of the designed building resides in the further placement of the columns forming the cloud at important points of the city. On the pillars we can find Jewish verses in both languages, which font becomes bright after dark.

The diploma thesis deals with non-library entities that collaborate with public libraries on the deepening of information literacy of library users. The theoretical part presents legislation and important documents that are connected with this topic. The following is an explanation of the terms that occur at work. The main part of the text is a research section that describes in detail used methods, a content analysis and a questionnaire survey, and their results. The conclusion provides selected examples of this cooperation in Czech and foreign public libraries.

Nová synagoga Opava / New synagogue in Opava

The diploma project handles the design of the synagogue and buildings of the Jewish community in Opava. The project is formed as an architectural study. Apart from the synagogue, the design also includes a mixed-use building under the administration of the Jewish community. This building combines several departments – a kosher restaurant, which is adapted to prepare meals according to Jewish eating habits, workshop rooms, administration of the Jewish community and community library. These departments are supplemented by temporary accommodation and starter flats for students and by two commercial units. The entire complex is complemented by underground parking and the necessary technical facilities. There was an original synagogue in the area, which was burned down by the Nazis and the only remnant here is the building of the former rabbinic house, now serving as the seat of the Christian Association. The basis of the concept is the legible urbanism of the design, which connects the polyfunctional building to the block type design of the surrounding buildings, allowing the synagogue itself to stand out as a solitary object. Its orientation creates a public space with the entrances to the synagogue and the outside seating of kosher restaurant. An architectural language of simple lines was chosen for both objects. The contrast and emphasis on the importance of the synagogue over the other object is achieved by the used materials. The monolithic reinforced concrete skeleton was chosen as the construction principle, the layout is different according to the departments of the individual parts of the design.
