Since printe media uses verbal and visual language to impose its ideology and conquer readers/consumers, this study takes Iser's theoretical premises in order to understand the relations of production and reception. Newspapers are different from each other as are the ways to offer information about a given reality; thus, this work focuses tso newspapers: Agora and Folha de São Paulo. Both newspapers belong to the same corporation but they aim at readers coming from different social classes. Such condition results into a selection of words and photographs. The reader, making use of his/her repertory, constructs meaning, updating the text. This leads the theoretical referential of the Reception Esthetics to be of help in the search of the gaps left by the text.
