To implement this action research study , we rely on the Theory Sociolinguistics Variationist initiated by Labov, which triggered proposals for language teaching , guided by the correlation between language and society , as well as contributions to the teaching of the mother tongue in this theoretical context , and Brazilian scholars as Bortoni-Ricardo (2005, 2008), Marcos Bagno (2005, 2007) , among others. The participating class of this study are students of the 5th year of the Schools of Municipal Schools in the city of João Pessoa. With the focus on the principle of heterogeneity of language focuses our pedagogical actions of interactional character in the classroom, to reflect on the "appropriate" and "not appropriate " in regard to language as a communication situation. Thus, we seek to present oral and written cultural norms for students with defined criteria and methods that lead to reflection and not allow prejudice, as we believe, with language, is also socially. We hope through this study has raised a new look at linguistic prejudice, that it can gradually be minimized in society, and is the school that this work should start in the search for a society where there is no more people who are stigmatized for their use speech . Experience has shown that working with linguistic variation, focusing on combating linguistic prejudice, can be an effective teaching tool, as a new proposal for teaching the English language according to the PCN seeks greater linguistic awareness. / O presente trabalho tem como objetivo principal apresentar uma reflexão sobre os diferentes modos de falar presentes no espaço escolar. Tem como foco o respeito às variações do português, livre de qualquer preconceito e busca contribuir para melhorar o ensino da língua materna. Para a concretização deste estudo de pesquisa-ação, apoiamo-nos nos pressupostos da Sociolinguística Variacionista, iniciada por Labov, que desencadeou propostas de ensino da língua, pautadas na correlação entre língua e sociedade, bem como nas contribuições para o ensino da língua materna, neste contexto teórico, e por estudiosos brasileiros como Bortoni-Ricardo (2005; 2008), Marcos Bagno (2005; 2007), entre outros. A turma participante deste estudo são alunos do 5º ano de uma das Escolas da Rede Municipal de Ensino da cidade de João Pessoa. Com o foco no princípio da heterogeneidade da língua, direcionamos nossas ações pedagógicas de caráter interacional em sala de aula, para refletir sobre o “adequado” e “não adequado” no que se refere à língua conforme a situação de comunicação. Assim, buscamos apresentar a norma culta oral e escrita para os alunos, com critérios e métodos definidos que levem à reflexão e não permitam o preconceito, pois acreditamos que, sendo linguístico, também é social. Esperamos através deste estudo ter suscitado um novo olhar sobre o preconceito linguístico, que este possa aos poucos ser minimizado na sociedade, e é na escola que este trabalho deve começar na busca por uma sociedade onde não mais existam pessoas que sejam estigmatizadas pelo uso que fazem da fala. A experiência mostrou que o trabalho com a variação linguística, com foco no combate ao preconceito linguístico, pode ser uma ferramenta pedagógica eficaz, por ser uma nova proposta de ensino da língua portuguesa consoante aos PCN que busca uma maior consciência linguística.
