Ruimtelike verwantskappe tussen kultuurtoerisme en kleinhandel in Leuven, België : 'n GIS-toepassingDe Witt, Emile Emile Adriaan) 03 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MA)--Stellenbosch University, 2000. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: European cities offer a variety of attractions, activities and facilities to tourists.
One component of tourism in this urban context is cultural tourism which is a high
potential growth sector within the tourism industry. Cultural tourists travel to cities
mainly to see the most important and well known cultural attractions, to take part
in cultural festivities, to view the cultural treasures of the cities and to attend
performances and exhibitions. Other functions and activities such as retail
functions and types also occur in the vicinity of the important cultural attractions
of a city. Amongst these activities and functions are shops, cafés and
restaurants. In an area of a city where cultural attractions and retail types coexist,
the possibility exits that a spatial relationship between cultural tourism and
retailing may occur in the sense that the tourists who visit these attractions may
support the retail establishments in the vicinity of cultural attractions.
The city of Leuven in Belgium is a typical West European city with a variety of
cultural tourist attractions as well as functions which can be supportive of cultural
tourism. These functions include shops, cafés and restaurants. An investigation
was conducted to establish whether a spatial relationship exists between cultural
tourism and retail activities in the part of Leuven known as the Ring. The
geographical information systems TransCad, Arc/Info en ArcView were used for
the processing and analysis of retail and cultural tourism data gathered in the
Ring of Leuven. Three analytical procedures were performed separately for
shops, cafés and restaurants. These procedures comprised (a) the
determination of the numbers and types of supportive functions around the most
important cultural-historical tourist attractions, (b) the determination of the
numbers and types of supportive functions along the routes to cultural-historical
sites from tourist points of origin, and (c) the determination of the numbers and
types of supportive functions along guided-walk routes in the city. The analysis
results show that a (spatial) relationship does exist between retail and cultural tourism in the Ring of Leuven. On average 44% of the retail functions (shops,
cafés and restaurants) are located within a distance of up to saam from the six
most important cultural building attractions in Leuven (procedure 1). Retail
functions on guided-walk routes totalled 48% with cafés and restaurants being
the most abundant (procedure 3). Only 19% of retail functions are located
between points of origin and cultural building attractions (procedure 2). A more
detailed study should be conducted to establish the exact nature of the spatial
relationship which exists between retail and cultural tourism in the Ring of
Leuven.
toerisme ondersteun. Hierdie ondersteunende funksies sluit winkels, cafés en
restaurante in.
ondersteunende funksies rondom die belangrikste kultuurhistoriese toeristeattraksies;
ondersteunende funksies langs begeleide stadswandelroetes.
Só is
voorkom.

La production de l’espace public à Lyon, Lisbonne et Louvain-la-Neuve : politiques, processus et prise en compte des usages / The production of public space in Lyon, Lisbon and Louvain-la-Neuve : policies, processes and the construction of public space usesGomes, Pedro 20 January 2017 (has links)
While research of an overtly operative outlook has convincingly put forward design and management recommendations for improving the use of public spaces, it has struggled in approaching the issue as the scope of urban policy and planning. This research project aims at contributing to re-placing the problem at an urban scope. It will do so by comparing three very different policy and planning processes which, at an urban scale, explicitly put forward use as a main objective of public space production, namely Lyon, Louvain-la-Neuve and Lisbon. The diversity of what 'taking use into account' might mean in each case study is a part of the research problem. This research adopts an inductive approach to the subject, framed by readings in the intersection of pragmatic sociology, policy and economics/management studies which suggest the explanation of policy outcomes by in-depth analyses of the processes leading to them. However, it maintains a geographical standpoint as it is concerned, as well, with the “spatialization of public policies”, i.e. the spaces that are actually produced by said processes and the dynamics of use taking place therein

Analyzing research communities in Enterprise Architecture : A Data-Driven Systematic Literature Review / Analysering av forskargrupper inom Enterprise Architecture : En datadriven systematisk litteraturöversiktTham, Emelie January 2021 (has links)
The field of Enterprise Architecture (EA) emerged as an answer to the increasing complexity in managing and aligning the business-IT relationship within enterprises. Both practitioners and academics have expressed interest in the field, with a growing number of publicized works related to EA. In an attempt to provide an outlook of the current research landscape of EA, a systematic literature review was conducted. Citation data from the Scopus (Elsevier) API were automatically extracted and analyzed. By applying the Louvain method on the collected data, 8 research communities and their topic were identified: (1) Enterprise Engineering (I & II), (2) Enterprise Architecture Management, (3) Enterprise Modelling, (4) IT Architecture, (5) Enterprise Integration, (6) Digital Transformation, and (7) Smart Cities. For each community, a summarized description with sub-community graphs as well as tables (describing the top authors, articles, and affiliation countries) are presented. Lastly, a comparison of the results and the EA trends identified by Gampfer et al. are presented.

RETAIL DATA ANALYTICS USING GRAPH DATABASEPriya, Rashmi 01 January 2018 (has links)
Big data is an area focused on storing, processing and visualizing huge amount of data. Today data is growing faster than ever before. We need to find the right tools and applications and build an environment that can help us to obtain valuable insights from the data. Retail is one of the domains that collects huge amount of transaction data everyday. Retailers need to understand their customer’s purchasing pattern and behavior in order to take better business decisions.
Market basket analysis is a field in data mining, that is focused on discovering patterns in retail’s transaction data. Our goal is to find tools and applications that can be used by retailers to quickly understand their data and take better business decisions. Due to the amount and complexity of data, it is not possible to do such activities manually. We witness that trends change very quickly and retailers want to be quick in adapting the change and taking actions. This needs automation of processes and using algorithms that are efficient and fast. In our work, we mine transaction data by modeling the data as graphs. We use clustering algorithms to discover communities (clusters) in the data and then use the clusters for building a recommendation system that can recommend products to customers based on their buying behavior.
