This present work aims at analyzing the socioeconomic behavior of families constituted and headed by individuals from declared Portuguese origin which came to Minas Gerais in the XVIII century. The chosen Minas Gerais region for this study was The Mantiqueira Mountains, Rio das Mortes District, formed by small locations which, at that time, used to count on not yet explored mineral dates and vast unclaimed lands which were ideal for the agropastoral exploration. This scenario was suitable to feed the enrichment hope through collecting precious metals which for centuries used to permeate the Luso imagination, as well as the perspective of the access to assets which the Reign context could no longer provide the entire population. Always referring the characteristics of the early life to the migration, it is going to be unfolded several aspects of the colonial experiences of the Reign breed from distinct statutes and economic conditions which were established or, at least, they were passing by the mentioned locations. We are interested in perceiving the elements which had contributed for the settlement of lots of immigrants from the Luso-America as well as the option for the families constitution, the matrimonial and “compadrescas” choices, the mishaps and the ways of access to the lands from they used to extract their livelihood for the family unit and all the materiality which they were capable of conceiving on the hopeful Brazilian soil.
