Use multiple modeling approaches to study sustained online communities

Mao, Yan 01 April 2008 (has links)
In recent years, extensive studies of many interesting aspects of online community dynamics promoted a better understanding of this area. One of the most challenging problems facing builders of online communities is the design of incentive mechanisms that can ensure user participation. However, running online community experiments in the real world is expensive, and requires a great deal of motivation from users. In this thesis two major approaches are explored: system dynamics modeling and agent-based modeling, to simulate the overall behaviours of participants in online communities. Although these models are developed by using two different methodologies, both of them can provide insights into the user motivation process, incentive mechanism evaluation and community development. The target online community for my study is called Comtella, which is used in several senior Computer Science classes in the Department of Computer Science, University of Saskatchewan. Simulation models for the Comtella online community have been developed and the simulation results are useful to provide future directions for incentive mechanism improvement.

CHIU, Ning-Hsiung 04 September 2003 (has links)
Creative design of topological structure of mechanism (Creative mechanism design) is one of the important works on mechanical design. It¡¦s also the weakest part for domestic education on mechanism engineering design. So developing a multimedia CAI system is a better fortified manner. Texts about creative mechanism design have been developed. After that, we should carry out the construction of multimedia CAI system. The purpose of this research is to develop and construct the multimedia CAI system which will provide learners with a friendly and interactive learning tool. First, we will develop the texts using multimedia authoring software into multimedia teaching materials. Second, the friendly and interactive user interface will be constructed in order to enhance the good effects of teaching and learning. Finally, to establish the web pages of multimedia teaching materials on the World Wide Web will provide a directly, attracting and convenient learning way to help teaching and learning vividly, automatically and popularly. The results of this research will improve the ability of creative mechanism design for domestic students and the public.

A Study on the Mechanism Design and Analysis of Microstages for Microassembly

Hsu, Chao-chen 20 July 2004 (has links)
¡@¡@Accompanying with the development of MEMS technology, microstages have been used for many years. Most of the studies on microstages have been aimed at the application of new actuators, materials and fabrication process in recent years. However, the systematic way for designing new microstages with the mechanism conceptual design approach still needs some more input. ¡@¡@The objective of this study is to establish a methodology to design new microstages employing the concept of mechanism design. First of all, new microstages for microassembly have been analyzed according to the basic requirements from the mechanism. Afterwards, the concept of microjoint has been presented and used in the synthesis of microstages. Besides, a flow chart of design procedure has been presented and seven kinds of microstages are achieved accordingly. Finally, the FEM simulation of the synthesized microstage illustrates the desirable results that reveal the good agreement with the expected motion. It is shown that this study can be efficiency applied to the design of micro scale devices.

A Gain-sharing Model applied to re-evaluate the stock exchange ratio in communication industry¡¦s M&A ¡V the case of Taiwan Mobile Corporation and Far EasTone Telecommunications Corporation.

Tsai, Tsung-hsien 24 June 2005 (has links)
After the liberalization of the market , there will be the surge of competitors and price competition. In the end, the market will go to M&A. In the begin, there are seven competitors in Taiwan¡¦s communication industry. After the M&A, the market divided into three giant groups, Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd,Taiwan Mobile Co., Ltd and Far EasTone Co., Ltd. The traditional models in evaluating the stock exchange ratio in M&A is to evaluate the target company and buying them out. In this paper, we adopting game theoretic ain sharing model to re-evaluate the stock exchange ratio in profit generating and distribution . The result is that the net income is the proper variable to evaluate the stock exchange ratio in Taiwan¡¦s communication industry.

Hsu, Ting-wan 30 June 2005 (has links)
Reviewing domestic related researches about dialogue, most of them focused on its effectiveness. This research focused on how to facilitate the learning of dialouge. We firstly reviewed the references about ¡§learning¡¨ and ¡§dialogue¡¨; and then described the action research process of how Systems Thinking and Organizational Lab designed the feedback mechanisms to facilite the learning process on dialogue for Company A. We also analyzed every feedback mechanisms about its effectiveness in this research. We found out that feedback mechanisms can facilitate the learning process on dialogue, and the reflective abiliy of the members is very important. Besides we could adopt different feedback mechanism to facilitate the learning effectiveness depending on the situation; therefore, we also made several suggestions on every feedback mechanisms for future adoption.

A Study on the Design of Microfasteners

Weng, Sheng-ping 08 August 2005 (has links)
The MEMS technology has been developed for many years. Micro-assembly becomes more and more important in this years. Microfasteners play a critical role in micro-assembly due to their simple configuration and easy to be fabricated. The objective of this study is to utilize the phenomenon observed, that fits the definition of the degree of freedom of general mechanisms, and to synthesize new microfasteners employing the concept of mechanism design. Firstly, microfasteners are analyzed based on the need. After synthesizing new microfasteners in micro-scale, they are transformed into compliant mechanisms in micro-scale. By establishing geometry, FEM is applied to simulate the situation of insertion and retention, and to check if bucking will happen. Finally, the retention force is improved by changing the width of links. The insertion force, retention force, and stress are considered for selecting feasible configurations. An example of microgear set mechanism is introduced to demonstrate the assembly of the microgear set after microfabrication process with large backlash.

The Study of Mental Health of The Civil Servants in Kaohsiung City Government

Chen, Shih-chung 01 August 2006 (has links)
People has different background of growth, living environment and work experience. Some of them can meet with the fact easily, but some have poor adaptation to the reality of the world and tends to be trapped in low tune and imbalance both physically and mentally. The results is likely to reduce the performance on the job and would have ill effect on the family mood, connection with coworkers and human relationship. The overall effect would be that the operation and performance of the whole organization will be impacted. Therefore, maintaining the physical and mental health of public servant is emerging as a key lesson for government institutions. In this Study, we tried to explore the understanding and satisfaction of public servants in Kaohsiung City Government toward the mental health measures as promoted by the City Government. ¡@¡@This Study targeted the employees and teachers of agencies and schools within the jurisdiction of Kaohsiung City Government. Method of research is basically relying on questionnaire survey, which is assisted with in-depth interview. The data obtained from the questionnaire survey are processed with SPSS for WINDOW V.10 package software and applied frequency distribution, means, standard difference, ANOVA and Scheffé Ex-Post Comparison for analysis. ¡@¡@It is understood from the conclusion of this Study that the employees of Kaohsiung City Government, female, age between 31 and 40, college graduated, married, recommended level rank, worked for 6 ¡V 10 years, non chief officer and working with administrative offices are better in the transmission of City Government¡¦s measures on mental health of employees, participation in activities and resources of consultation, or the overall understanding of the measures and satisfaction and needs are better than group of different attributes. ¡@¡@The suggestion Subsequent researcher may try with the satisfaction and factors of needs of government employees toward the mental health measures as implemented by City Government for comparison to find out their view and their attitude toward this issue.

Improving the algorithm of the LCD Driver IC inspection equipment

Hu, Tsai-Hsien 14 January 2010 (has links)
This thesis would solve the control problem of the contiguous tape which using Reel-to-Reel winder mechanism to load and unload. In the past, some theses solve the speed matching between motors by using specific motor controller or specific mechanism. These designs are too complex and inflexible to suit the variety requirement. In this thesis, I have only used simple vibration mechanism. I hope that the variety requirement could be suited by turning the software. I have compared those results by using different algorithms and different type of sensors. According those results, I wish to find a better control method. During the experimenting, I found that the discontinuous sensor, like Photo-interrupter can not provide enough information about the vibration mechanism. The controller can not turn the motor speed in a short time. In opposition, when using the continuous sensor, like potentiometer can provide more information including the speed and the location of the vibration mechanism. It even provides the moving direction and acceleration. The controller can tune the motor speed by using typical PID control algorithm. I tuned the P¡BI and D parameter by the method provided by Ziegler & Nichols. When working in the factory, there is no problem!
