It also intends to contribute with the registry in the history of alphabetization of young and adults in Bel?m, without any intention of making general the analyzed aspects. The research is characterized by the use of a qualitative approach of the type ethnographic, because it involves an analysis that considers at the same time the local and global aspects. It analysis documents produced in the period and uses semi-structured interviews for data construction. It tries to show living cues and experiences of the pedagogical activities found in the theoretical references of Brand?o (2003), Freire (1979; 1987; 1992), Gadotti (1998; 2000), Ribeiro (1999; 2003), Santos (1995; 2000), Soares (1985; 1998; 2003) and other authors of alphabetization and popular education fields. This multiplicity of bibliographical and empirical references has produced a heterogeneous framework, that is much more complex and multifaceted than the one which would be constituted as the knowledge of the pedagogical, alphabetizer practice. It can not happen, however, an absolute concept that is clear and total that resumes significance and matter of the pedagogical, alphabetization practice of young and adults. So, the study establishes a relativism between them assuming as valid the ones that are of popular and democratic types. At last but not least, it intended to contribute to the history of the alphabetization of youngsters and adults in Bel?m with a popular education perspective without any pretension to turn the analyzed aspects into generalized ones / Este estudo analisa a experi?ncia do Movimento de Alfabetiza??o de Jovens e Adultos Prof. Paulo Freire (MOVA Bel?m) no per?odo de 2001-2004. Pretende desvelar quais saberes/fazeres constituem as pr?ticas pedag?gicas cotidianas de alfabetizadores e alfabetizadoras populares e contribuir com o registro da hist?ria da alfabetiza??o de jovens e adultos em Bel?m, sem qualquer pretens?o de tornar generalizantes os aspectos analisados. A pesquisa caracteriza-se por uma abordagem qualitativa do tipo etnogr?fico, pois envolve uma an?lise que considera ao mesmo tempo os aspectos locais e globais. Analisa documentos produzidos nesse per?odo e utiliza entrevistas semi-estruturadas para a constru??o de dados. Busca mostrar as viv?ncias e experi?ncias desse fazer pedag?gico em refer?ncias te?ricas como Brand?o (2003), Freire (1979; 1987; 1992), Gadotti (1998; 2000), Ribeiro (1999; 2003), Santos (1995; 2000), Soares (1985; 1998; 2003) e outros do campo da alfabetiza??o e educa??o popular. Essa multiplicidade de refer?ncias bibliogr?ficas e emp?ricas produz um quadro heterog?neo, complexo e multifacetado do que poderia constituir-se como saberes da pr?tica pedag?gica alfabetizadora. N?o podendo haver, portanto, um conceito absoluto, un?voco e totalizador que resumisse a signific?ncia e materialidade da pr?tica pedag?gica de alfabetiza??o de jovens e adultos, opta por estabelecer um relativismo entre elas, admitindo como v?lidas as de cunho popular-democr?tico que tomam como objetivo prec?puo a transforma??o de homens e mulheres e da sociedade.
