With the recent legalizing of same-sex marriage in the United States by the Supreme Court, this opens the door to more rights for same-sex couples, such as parenting. However, people still have opposing views of same-sex relationships. What makes people different in their attitudes toward same-sex relationships, such as same-sex parents? This study has examined the attitudes of the students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and potential factors that might affect their attitudes toward same-sex parenting. For example, it is found that religious people are less likely to accept same-sex relationships, women are more accepting than men to same-sex relationships, and younger generations are also more accepting than previous generations. How about the majors then? How about the class materials and topics that students are taught within class? Would curriculum, majors, classes, topics in class, and other factors that students are exposed to during college life make a difference in students? The current study has explored the possible dynamics among various factors (e.g., major, class, classification) and students’ attitudes toward same-sex relationships. The undergraduate students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette were asked to fill out the survey regarding the variables addressed above. So far, we have collected 167 samples from diverse majors, such as Engineering, Child and Family Studies, and Business students. The results show that women in general are more accepting than men and, even among men, men with more social science related majors, are more accepting than men in the other majors. In addition, it was found that the variable – having personal relationships with LGBT community or not, was significantly related to the acceptance of men. For this conference, more data will be collected and analyzed with more structured analysis in order to find more objective dynamics among variables addressed above. Note: Last year, I presented the current study at poster symposium but, this year I will present more updated findings with more data and more advanced statistical analysis.

The problem in this investigation has a three-fold purpose; namely, (1) to reveal, by means of comparison, the likenesses and differences in the personalities of elementary and secondary education majors of N. T. S. T. C.; (2) to determine to what extent the individual is adjusting himself to the problems and conditions confronting him, and how these problems are affecting the development of a normal, happy, and socially effective personality; (3) to interpret the data collected correctly, in order that better adjusted personalities may be developed.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the perceptions of students majoring in vocal music and theatre regarding the instruction they receive in their undergraduate curricula on voice health education. Methods: A survey was adapted from a previous study, Beeman (2016), with permission by the author. The survey was disseminated to undergraduate vocal music and theatre majors across the United States via SurveyMonkey®, an online survey tool. Results: Students perceived receiving knowledge on vocal health from their voice teachers, however they reported low levels of vocal hygiene compliance. Additionally, students recognized the connection between the singing and speaking voice, and they were unclear of the role of the speech-language pathologist in voice. Conclusion: The disconnect between vocal health knowledge and student compliance of vocal hygiene strategies, requires further investigation. Utilizing the voice care team, specifically the speech-language pathologist, to educate both the voice teachers and the students on best practices, is imperative.

It is the specific purpose of this investigation to determine the difference, if any, in the amount of practical, everyday chemistry learned by the science majors as opposed to the non-science majors enrolled in general chemistry at the North Texas State College during the school year 1950-1951.

The problem of this study is to discover what factors are associated with change of major in college students. Questions that need to be answered are (1) Is academic success or failure related to change of major? (2) Is mental ability associated with change of major? (3) Is change of interest related to change of major? (4) Are there reasons that are personal and peculiar to the individual that are associated with change of major? (5) Is inadequate occupational information related to change of major? (6) Do social reasons such as a desire for a vocation with greater prestige, increasing interest in being of service to people, or having to conform to the wishes of parents and relatives relate to change of major?

The problem with which this study was concerned was twofold; the effect of group counseling experiences on elementary education majors, and the relationship between certain counselor and client variables.
