Orientador: Regina Célia Baptista Belluzzzo / Banca: Maximiliano Martin Vicente / Banca: Ricardo Alexino Ferreira / Resumo: Com o advento da Tecnologia Digital, as emissoras públicas, alardeadas com a necessidade de acompanhar a digitalização, iniciaram uma série de discussões em prol de sua sustentabilidade. Foi através do I Fórum Nacional de TVs Públicas que se firmou o compromisso da criação da Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) que tem como proposta operar uma Rede Nacional de Comunicação Publica (RNCP), e garantir a viabilidade e sustentabilidade de emissoras públicas que tenham interesse em se afiliar a Rede. Diante desse cenário, a presente dissertação tem como proposta analisar a sustentabilidade da TV Brasil, como sendo a emissora de televisão cabeça de rede das afiliadas, no tocante à gestão e o fomento. Como referencial teórico, apresenta-se um breve panorama da TV pública no Brasil, pontuando os aspectos históricos desde o surgimento da primeira emissora pública até a criação da EBC. Além disso, é feita a apresentação da TV Brasil e de sua emissora conveniada - a TV UNESP (TVU). Em sequência, oferece-se uma explanação acerca dos modelos de gestão existentes e a descrição de pesquisa exploratória junto aos gestores de ambas emissoras, cujo intuito foi constatar se os parâmetros utilizados no seu atual modelo de gestão e fomento estão alinhados entre si, procurando identificar condições de melhoria nas condutas adotadas. Em seguida, após análise dos dados da pesquisa e seu confronto com o referencial teórico abordado, considerou-se ser necessária a existência de maiores subsídios a essa área. Desse modo, são apresentadas diretrizes como a construção científica que tem o intuito de prestar contribuição para a adequação de condutas que devem envolver a gestão e o fomento para a TV Digital Pública no Brasil / Abstract: With the advent of the Digital Technology, the public broadcasting stations in order to follow the current Digital System, start many discussions visualizing their maintenance. Through the first Public TVs National forum an agreement was stated in order to create the Communication enterprise EBC-Empresa Brasil de Comunicação with the aim of operate a National Net of Public communication - RNCP - Rede Nacional de Comunicação Pública so they can take as guaranty the visibility and maintenance of public broadcasting stations interested in being affiliate to the net. This abstract has the proposal of analyzing the scenery of the sustainability of the TV Brasil as being the TV Broadcasting leader to the affiliates concerning Management and Promotion. As theoretical sustentation of the dissertation presents a briefing of the public TV Brasil pointing out the historical aspects since the appearance of the public brodcasting until the creation of EBC. The next chapter presents TV Brasil and its convenanter broadcasting, the TV UNESP. It makes an explanation about the existing models of management being applied. Afterwards, a research was made on the managers of both broadcastings with the purpose of a verification concerning the parameter used and to kwow if the recent managerial model and promotion of the broadcasting are similiar each other. In addition to this, some directives for the management and promotion in this area are presented considered as a scientific construction which has the aim of a contribution in the area of management and promotion for a Brazilian Public Digital Television / Mestre

A socially situated approach to inform ways to improve health and wellbeing

No / Mainstream health psychology supports neoliberal notions of health promotion in which self-management is central. The emphasis is on models that explain behaviour as individually driven and cognitively motivated, with health beliefs framed as the favoured mechanisms to target in order to bring about change to improve health. Utilising understandings exemplified in critical health psychology, we take a more socially situated approach, focusing on practicing health, the rhetoric of modernisation in UK health care and moves toward democratisation. While recognising that within these new ways of working there are opportunities for empowerment and user-led health care, there are other implications. How these changes link to simplistic cognitive behavioural ideologies of health promotion and rational decision-making is explored. Utilising two different empirical studies, this article highlights how self-management and expected compliance with governmental authority in relation to health practices position not only communities that experience multiple disadvantage but also more seemingly privileged social actors. The article presents a challenge to self-management and informed choice, in which the importance of navigational networks is evident. Because health care can become remote and inaccessible to certain sections of the community, yet pervasive and deterministic for others, we need multiple levels of analysis and different forms of action.

Development of a family-based treatment programme for childhood obesity using Intervention Mapping methods

Background: Reviews of primary research in developed countries and policy in the UK demonstrate there is a lack of evidence from well conducted RCTs on lifestyle interventions for childhood obesity (NICE 2006, SIGN 2003, Oude Luttikhuis et al. 2009). Objectives: To develop, implement and evaluate the Y W8? family focused childhood obesity treatment programme using a randomized controlled trial. Methods: The programme was developed using Bartholomew’s Intervention Mapping framework. Using this stepped process a needs analysis was undertaken, a steering group formed, focus groups were completed in local schools and interviews took place with parents of obese children. The determinants identified by these processes were combined with relevant theories and information gathered through a literature review to develop the programme. Y W8? is a 12 week course for families with children aged 8–13 years designed to assist with weight management. The RCT was designed as an individually randomised parallel-group trial with a waiting-list control group. Children in the intervention group (n=59) had their height, weight, self-reported physical activity levels, self-reported fruit and vegetable consumption and a measure of self-esteem recorded at pre- and post-assessment, whilst only height and weight was collected from the children in the control group (n=55). Results: Twelve week (post course) results showed a significant difference in change in BMI z-score between the control and intervention group, mean difference = -0.12 (95% CI: 0.09 to 0.16, F (1, 98) = 54.04, p < 0.0005), with the control group increasing and the intervention group decreasing their BMI z-score. Analysis showed this positive effect on weight status did not adversely affect linear growth. For the intervention group 81% of children completed the programme. Implications: This RCT offers evidence to support the use of family-based treatment programmes in the treatment of childhood obesity and displays positive results in the short-term, at a lower cost than similar interventions. The thesis also demonstrates how a public health programme can be implemented and sustained in routine NHS practice.
