Informetrics study the information flow as a pure information phenomenon. However what are the practical applications of this problem? Information flow can be understood, investigated and managed from different points of view. The most practical one is management approach combined with intuitive analogy. Water flow parallel appears suitable. A conceptual model can be propounded upon this foundation and then used for better illustration of information flow function and key parts. Finally, a good amount of instruments and management methods can be used to manage information flows. So in chosen organization the current state of information flows and contemporary methods of its management are investigated in order to compare the theory and the practice. Concrete suggestions and statements about information flow management are deduced afterwards This paper illustrate possibilities of usage of information flow management in practice. (in English) The subject of the Diploma thesis is the process of sharing of economic information and knowledge suitable for corporate governance. A special attention is focused on an effective utilization and development of information and communication technologies (ICT). At the beginning, information society and basic terms are defined, such as information economy, economics of information, information management and knowledge management. Furthermore, the strategic importance of enterprise information systems and other solutions for improving business information processes are described in general. The final chapters deal with Competitive Intelligence (CI) and Business Intelligence (BI) and contain the overview and analyses of the most important information products of economic information from commercial and non-commercial sectors [Author's abstract].

The dissertation focuses on information support for the strategic management of universities in the Czech Republic, using competitive intelligence as a framework. Qualitative and quantitative research methods - text analysis, questionnaire survey and conceptual modelling - have been used to achieve the goal of the dissertation.Current state of the topic is reviewed both from the global and Czech perspective, with a special emphasis on legal and economic environment in which Czech universities operate. Strategic and organizational aspects of the information support provided to university management are evaluated. Data necessary for the provision of information support are also discussed. The key role of university libraries in the information support for university strategic management is identified.Categorization of internal and external information sources forming the data base for the strategic management support and the conceptual model of the data base are the main results of the dissertation.
