A investigação aborda a manifestação da Arquitetura Moderna Brasileira no sul do país, através do exame aprofundado de projetos, obras exemplares e pensamento representativos de Carlos M. Fayet, Cláudio L. G. Araújo e Moacyr Moojen Marques, três arquitetos expressivos da geração descendente da vanguarda moderna na região. Do final dos anos 1940 até o final da década de 1960, período que abrange a estruturação da profissão, surgimento do ensino, formação da Faculdade de Arquitetura, criação do Instituto de Arquitetos do Brasil – Departamento do Rio Grande do Sul – episódios nos quais os três arquitetos tiveram certo protagonismo – introdução, disseminação e expansão da arquitetura moderna no Estado, a trajetória e principalmente a produção arquitetônica correspondente desnuda o panorama da arquitetura moderna no sul e sua inserção no cenário amplo do Movimento Moderno. Desde visão focada na análise penetrante do projeto, objeto arquitetônico e exercício do ofício, aspectos como relações de continuidade e descontinuidade da Arquitetura Moderna Brasileira, sua particular apropriação do Movimento Moderno, propagação regional, paralelismos e contribuições nativas se confrontam com agentes próprios do fazer matizados pela conjuntura internacional, nacional e local. A investigação de manifestações de distintas colorações e circunstâncias, busca de certa forma incrementar o conhecimento disciplinar disseminado, fundamentando com mais consistência a produção recorrente da arquitetura brasileira, além da referencial produzida nos tradicionais centros de irradiação, pelas lideranças ancestrais. / The investigation deals with the manifestation of Brazilian Modern Architecture in the South, through the scrutiny of projects, works and throught representative examples of Carlos M. Fayet, Claudio L. G. Araujo and Moacyr Moojen Marques, three significant architects of the modern generation, descendants of the vanguard in the region. From late 1940 until the end of the 1960s, a period that covers the structuring of the profession, the emergence of education, the formation of the School of Architecture, the creation of the Institute of Architects of Brazil, Department of Rio Grande do Sul – episodes of which the three architects have had some role – the introduction, spread and expansion of modern architecture in the state, the trajectory and especially the correspondant architectural production denuded the landscape of modern architecture in the south and the integration into the broader landscape of the Modern Movement. Since a vision focused on a penetrating analysis of the project, the architectural object and trade, aspects such as relations of continuity and discontinuity of Brazilian Modern Architecture, its unique apropriation of the Modern Movement, regional spread, parallels and native contributions are faced with the agents themselves, blended by the international, national and local levels. The investigation of events and circumstances of different natures searches for a way to increase the disseminated disciplinary knowledge, more consistently fundamenting the recurring production of Brazilian architecture, in addition to the references made in the traditional centers of irradiation by the acestral leadership.
