A study of Investments from Taiwan on PRC¡¦s Medical Institutions.

Lin, Shih-huan 03 July 2008 (has links)
Since the ¡mThe Interim Measures for Administration of Chinese-foreign Joint Venture and Cooperative Medical Institutions¡ncame effective in year 2000, several Taiwanese firms invested their capital in, which became the pioneers of investing in PRC¡¦s medical markets. Given the distinctive characteristics only possessed by medical organizations, combined with PRC¡¦s medical environments, policies and conditions are far different from those of Taiwan¡¦s, investing in PRC would pose as a unique challenge. This thesis discusses medical environments and competitions with policy, industry and competition points of view in order to serve as a reference to medical firms willing to invest there. This research applies qualitative methods, focusing on the specialty and meanings of data. This study served interviewing experts and gathering secondary data (books, newspapers, periodicals, theses and dissertations, websites and governmental publications) as the foundation and concludes with suggestions for current/potential investors. This study has discovered that Taiwanese firms which also invest in PRC were not entered there due to financial reasons, other factors are relatively dominant. Several ambiguous rules regarding cooperation between two firms lay in current regulations, which may pose as a major threat to Taiwanese firms. In addition to a higher public-to-private medical firm ratio, local governments¡¦ fiscal conditions ¡V which are related with public hospitals ¡V made things worse for private firms to live. Human resources employed by Taiwanese medical firms, on the other hand, are generally sourced from local regions. Yet major differences lay between the methods of training medical professionals and the ratio between doctors and nurses. In addition, salaries of the professionals are relatively low in PRC, thus kick-backs are generally accepted as a ¡§normal income¡¨ to them. These differences are challenges for the Taiwanese firms to operate there. In this research, one could discover that medical environments in PRC are complicated and filled with risks. Firms must truly understand the objectives and capacities of their own when considering investing in the industry there. Locations are as well important in assuring the firm's success.

Inquire into a patient by system thinking to equally be on duty time and health insurance system of influence

Liao, I-Chen 14 July 2007 (has links)
From 2002, Bureau of National Health Insurance attempted to solve the problem that the average time that a doctor uses to diagnose a sickness is to short by Global Budget System. However, in 2007, Micheal Porter argued that the average time that a doctor uses to diagnose a sickness is only three minutes. Therefore, Bureau of National Health Insurance is failed to solve this problem. In this research, we find that the time that a doctor uses to diagnose a sickness is not decided by doctors but sickness. However, the target that Bureau of National Health Insurance wants to influence is doctors. Besides, although Bureau of National Health Insurance wants to influence doctors, the people who are real influenced are operators. As the result, the average time that a doctor uses to diagnose a sickness is still short and Global Budget System lets operators not only fire inferior doctors hardly but also less invite better doctors to help. Thus, it causes sickness rights and interests damage. Besides, we try to find the high leverage solution to solve this problem. We consider three ways, including limiting doctors` patient, increasing price and helping doctors to improve their skill. After studying, we find that only helping doctors to improve their skill would not cause any side effect.

Hodnocení životní spokojenosti seniorů (zdravotnická zařízení, agentury domácí péče, domovy pro seniory) / Evaluation of life satisfaction of pensioners (healthcare institutions, homecare agencies, retirement houses)

FUJDLOVÁ, Radka January 2015 (has links)
Theoretical concepts: The central topic of my thesis is the life satisfaction of the elderly, although this concept is perceived very subjectively. Moreover, it varies even in one person at different life stages and it depends on various circumstances and events that accompany people on their life journeys. However, experiencing satisfaction always requires the saturation of one's needs, physical ones as well as mental, social and spiritual ones. Most of the times, one is able to provide for their needs, or at least affect them, through their activities and their will, but the older ones grows, the more one becomes dependent on others in this respect. This task is usually taken in part by one's family members who are willing to help and take care of their close relative, but there also arise situations where one has to entrust themselves into the hands of health professionals, especially nurses. The nurses' tasks do not just include staffing surgeries, but it is necessary for them to pay attention to the individual needs of their clients. Importance of both these components of care is entirely equivalent, because treatment success depends largely on the psychological state, defined by the satisfaction of the clients' life needs, and, on the other hand, the measure a patients' well-being is strongly influenced by the state of their health depending on successful treatment. Professional care that their clients receive is often linked to the placement of the elderly in some health institutions; possibly there may be a situation when an elderly person stays in their home and receives care from field medical staff for only a few hours a day. In any case, the objective of such care, through whatever methods it is provided, should be to achieve the highest possible degree of satisfaction of elderly individuals. Objectives of the thesis: To find out about subjective evaluation of life satisfaction of the elderly depending on their age To find out about subjective evaluation of life satisfaction of the elderly depending on their sex To find out about subjective evaluation of life satisfaction of the elderly depending on institution type Hypotheses: H1: Men are more satisfied than women H2: Satisfaction of the elderly decreases as they grow older H3: The most satisfied are the elderly who use the services of ADP Methods: The method of quantitative research was used in the practical part. For this purpose, the reduced SQUALA standardized questionnaire was used. It had been transferred to interview form due to the age of the target group of the elderly. The obtained data was processed with Microsoft Office Excel and some calculations were made with the Statistica programme. Answers from one hundred respondents were obtained as part of the survey; the respondents came from South Bohemia, particularly from the Český Krumlov and České Budějovice regions. Three types of health care institutions were contacted: a home care agency, retirement homes and hospital aftercare wards. Fifteen elderly persons were obtained for cooperation in the home care agency, 39 persons in retirement homes and 46 persons in hospitals. Results: The results of the survey show that satisfaction of the elderly is most affected by the type of health institution used, i.e. by the environment in which they are provided with health care. Definitely the most satisfied are the people who use the services of the home care agency. On the other hand, age or sex did not play a significant role when evaluating life satisfaction. Conclusion: The importance of this thesis may lie mostly in the opportunity to use the acquired knowledge, regarding the satisfaction of the elderly and the factors that influence this satisfaction, to improve the quality of care provided by nurses and other health staff.

Zkušenost neplodnosti: retrospektivní biografická rekonstrukce nyní plodných žen / Infertility experience: retrospective biographical reconstruction of now fertile women

Ulrichová, Eva January 2020 (has links)
This master's thesis focuses on the retrospective biographical interviews with three now fertile women who as narrators retrospectively create their identities during the experience with the diagnosis and treatment of infertility. I also explored how the medical and social institution could lead to a change of identity of female infertility. This master's thesis is based on theory of Erving Goffman about patients in total institution: this theory supports the idea that total (medical) institution destroys the patient's original identity and then constructs new identity. The major result of this master's thesis found four different changes in woman's identity during the experience of infertility: identity of implicitly fertile woman and potential mother, denial of identity and the process of accepting a new identity, identity of infertile woman and patient's identity, and mother's identity. The changes of woman's identity are based on diagnostic phase. Therefore I decided to separate them into four various period in this research: pre-diagnostic, diagnostic, post-diagnostic and contra-diagnostic. I also found a difference between Goffman's theory and my results: Based on my research I concluded that the construction of identity of infertile women in the diagnostics and treatment of infertility is...
