Studien syftar på att belysa hur socialsekreterare som arbetar med barn och ungdomar upplever och hanterar sekundär traumatisering. Studien grundar sig i en kvalitativ forskningsmetod där fem semistrukturerade intervjuer har gjorts med socialsekreterare som arbetar med barn och ungdomar. För att kunna analysera resultatet som har tillkommit har en tematisk analys gjorts där det har skapats två huvudteman: upplevelser av sekundär traumatisering hos socialsekreterare och copingstrategier hos socialsekreterare med tillhörande subteman som bidrar till en större förståelse till de huvudteman som har identifierats. Studiens resultat visar att socialsekreterare upplever olika symptom som indikerar på att de upplever eller har upplevt sekundär traumatisering genom att ta del av traumatiserade klienters upplevelser. Resultatet visade att socialsekreterarnas arbetsförhållanden medför bland annat psykiska och emotionella påfrestningar som påverkar dem i flera arenor. Vidare visade resultatet att socialsekreterare använder sig av copingstrategier som skyddsfaktorer för att förhindra sekundär traumatisering hos sig själv. De copingstrategier som kom fram var såväl som fysisk aktivitet, socialt stöd och handledning, det var strategier som kom fram men i deras utsagor framkommer det att socialsekreterare även använder strategier som de inte är fullt medvetna om men som kan vara minst lika effektiva mot det komplexa fenomenet sekundär traumatisering. / The study aims to study how social workers who work with children and young people handle and experience secondary trauma. The study is based on a qualitative research method where five semi-structured interviews have been done. To analyze the results, a thematic analysis has been made where two main themes have been created: experiences of secondary traumatization among social secretaries and coping strategies among social secretarieswith associated subheadings that contribute to a greater understanding of the main themes identified. The results of the study show that social workers experience various symptoms that indicate that they experience or have experienced secondary trauma by taking part in the experiences of traumatized clients. The results showed that the social workers' working conditions entail, mental and emotional strains that affect them in several arenas. Furthermore, the results showed that social workers use coping strategies as protective factors to prevent secondary trauma to themselves. The coping strategies that emerged were as well as physical activity, social support, and guidance, these were strategies that emerged, but it appears that social workers also use strategies that they are not fully aware of, which can be least as effective against the complex phenomenon secondary trauma.
