Decaimentos de mésons Ø e J/Ψ no Modelo C3P0

Quadros, Joseima Neves de January 2012 (has links)
The C3P0 model was developed using the Fock-Tani formalism, which deals with problems involving composite particles and their constituents. The creation and annihilation operators of composite particles do not obey canonical (anti) commutation relations, due to the presence of the internal structure. After performing the Fock-Tani unitary transformation U of these operators, new ideais operators are obtained iteratively. These perators contam an expansion in powers of the wave function and obey the canonical (anti) commutation relations. It is possible to construct effective quantaties in accordance with the fundamental ones. One of these important effective quantities that can be built is the Hamiltonian He f fective = U-1 HU that will contam the information about the internal structure. Heffective has, among other structures, diagrams corresponding to exchange scattering with hadronic constituents, hadronic decays, etc.. From the meson decay Hamiltonian, modified by the Fock-Tani transformation, we obtain the Hamiltonian the C3/30 model, HC3PO. With HC3PO one can find decay amplitudes and subsequently decay rates. In this thesis, we consider strange quarkonia mixtures of type c1 [uü + + c2 ss. We calculate the decay rates for the mesons 0(1020), 0(1680), 03(1850) and 0(2050), 01(1850) and 02 (1850), the not yet observed experimentally, in the context of C3P0 model, and determine the coefficients c1 and c2 . Another study was conducted with J/b mesons, where we consider that they are formed by mixing cl [u-ü + + c2 ss + c3 cc. To consider J/0 given by mixtures comes from studies that attempt to solve the "p7r puzzle". Again, with the aid of C3P0 model, we find the decay rates.

Analysis of radiative decays of charged B mesons to baryonic final states

Strube, Jan, 1978- 09 1900 (has links)
xxvi, 199 p. : ill. (some col.) A print copy of this thesis is available through the UO Libraries. Search the library catalog for the location and call number. / The abundance of B mesons at B factories opens the door to the search in rare decays for physics outside of the Standard Model. Flavor-changing neutral current transitions proceed only via higher order in the Standard Model, resulting in a b [arrow right] s³y branching fraction of about 3 x 10 -4 , but hypothesized particles could alter the rate significantly. Decays of B mesons that proceed via this electroweak penguin diagram are an interesting example of flavor-changing neutral currents, due to the large number of accessible final states with observables that are sensitive to new processes. This dissertation describes the analyses of such decays B - [arrow right] p ³, B - [arrow right] £ 0 p ³, B - [arrow right] p and B - [arrow right] p using about 350 million B meson pairs recorded by the BABAR detector in the years 2001 through 2006. In addition to the decay rate, the distribution of the invariant mass of the baryon pair is presented, using a method for statistical unfolding. The analysis is the first of these decays at the BABAR experiment and lays the groundwork for future analyses of the branching fractions and angular correlations of b [arrow right] s decays containing A hyperons and other baryons at BABAR or higher luminosity B factories. / Adviser: James E. Decaimentos de mésons D e DSJ no modelo C3P0

Silva, Daniel Tavares da January 2011 (has links)
The Fock-Tani representation is a field theory formalism appropriated for the simultaneous treatment of composite particles and their constituents. The 3P0 model is a typical decay model which considers only OZI-allowed strong decays. The model considers a quark-antiquark pair created with the vacuum quantum numbers in the presence of the initial state meson. It is described as the non-relativistic limit of the pair creation Hamiltonian. Applying the Fock-Tani transformation to the microscopic Hamiltonian of the pair creation produces the characteristic expansion in powers of the wave function, where the 3P0 model is the lowest order in the expansion. The corrected 3P0 model (C3P0) is obtained from higher orders in the expansion, by the introduction of the bound state kernel ¢, called the bound state correction. The goal of this work is to study in detail the charmed meson sector (D meson) and the strange charmed meson sector (DSJ meson) using the C3P0 model, where the C3P0 model is expanded by the inclusion of the second order of the bound state correction for the diagramatic method. In particular, we shall calculate the decay amplitudes and decay rates of the following channels: Charmed sector and Strange charmed sector.

Hadronic Decays of the ω Meson

Heijkenskjöld, Lena January 2016 (has links)
Two decay channels of the ω(782) meson, into π+π-π0 and π+π-, are studied. The dynamics of the three-pion channel is represented using a two-dimensional distribution, called a Dalitz plot. A high-statistics Dalitz plot distribution is needed to test theoretical predictions and increase understanding of the decay mechanism. The isospin-breaking two-pion decay gives insight into the ρ-ω mixing. The ω→π+π- decay has previously been studied in π+π- spectra in high statistics e+e- experiments and with lower statistics in hadroproduction experiments. The collected evidence indicates that the resulting interference pattern strongly depends on the production reaction. In 2011 an experiment to investigate ω hadronic decays in pd→3Heω reaction was performed with the WASA detector. Two studies based on the collected data are included in this thesis. In the first, the dominant decay channel ω→π+π-π0 is selected and two experimental Dalitz plot distributions are created. Each distribution corresponds to one of the two incident beam energies used in the experiment. A fit to the Dalitz plots is performed using a parametrisation including the expected P-wave shape. The result indicates an onset of the intermediate ρ in the two-pion channel, as predicted by theoretical models. The efficiency corrected Dalitz plot bin contents are reported to facilitate comparison to theoretical predictions by direct fits to the experimental data. In the second study, the ω→π+π- decay channel is selected. For events with a 3Heπ+π- final state, the 3He missing mass is constructed in search for the ρ-ω interference pattern in pd production. No significant deviations around the ω mass position was found. Dedicated studies using experimental data to estimate background contribution and to extract signal acceptance shows that the background is too large to observe the expected signal with the collected data sample. The last part of the thesis presents pre-studies for using data collected at the KLOE detector for an ω→π+π-π0 Dalitz plot analysis. Since the ω mesons are produced in the e+e-→ωπ0 reaction, the study focuses on the impact of the π0-π0 interference.

Measurement of the CP violating phase βs in B⁰_s → J/ψφ decays

Oakes, Louise January 2010 (has links)
The CP violating phase βJ/ψφs is measured in decays of B0s → J/ψφ. This measurement uses 5.2 fb-1 of data collected in √s = 1.96 TeV p‾p collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron with the CDF Run-II detector. CP violation in the B0s-‾B0sbar system is predicted to be very small in the Standard Model. However, several theories beyond the Standard Model allow enhancements to this quantity by heavier, New Physics particles entering second order weak mixing box diagrams. Previous measurements have hinted at a deviation from the Standard Model expectation value for βJ/ψφs with a significance of approximately 2σ. The measurement described in this thesis uses the highest statistics sample available to date in the B0s → J/ψφ decay channel, where J/ψ → μ+ μ- and φ → K+K-. Furthermore, it contains several improvements over previous analyses, such as enhanced signal selection, fully calibrated particle ID and flavour tagging, and the inclusion of an additional decay component in the likelihood function. The added decay component considers S-wave states of KK pairs in the B0s → J/ψK+K- channel. The results are presented as 2-dimensional frequentist confidence regions for βJ/ψφs and ΔΓ (the width difference between the B0s mass eigenstates), and as a confidence interval for βJ/ψφs of [0.02,0.52] U [1.08, 1.55] at the 68% confidence level. The measurement of the CP violating phase obtained in this thesis is complemented by the world's most precise measurement of the lifetime τs = 1.53 ± 0.025 (stat.) ± 0.012 (syst.) ps and decay width difference ΔΓ = 0.075 ± 0 .035 (stat.) ± 0.01 (syst.) ps−1 of the B0s meson, with the assumption of no CP violation.

Investigando a produção de mésons vetoriais e fótons diretos em colisões envolvendo íons pesados no Large Hadron Collider / Investigating the vector meson and direct photon production in collisions involving heavy ions at the Large Hadron Collider

Santos, Glauber Sampaio dos January 2016 (has links)
The exclusive production of vector mesons as well the prompt photon production have been studied recently, both experimentally and theoretically. In this work, we investigated the exclusive photoproduction of vector mesons and the real photon radiation processes in proton-proton (pp), proton-nucleus (pA) and nucleus-nucleus (AA) collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies, considering the color dipole approach. The masses of heavy mesons provide a perturbative scale for the problem allowing to test the perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). On the other hand, the light mesons do not have a perturbative scale associated to the process, so they allow to test the non-perturbative regime of QCD. The transition between the hard perturbative and the soft regimes can be addressed by the parton saturation models within the color dipole formalism. In addition, we investigated the direct photon production, where we estimate the corresponding cross section in pp and pA collisions at the LHC. The prompt photon are an important probe of QCD dynamics, scanning the small distances region and, consequently, providing access to the hadronic structure of the proton. For both reactions treated in this thesis, the main objective is to analyze the theoretical uncertainties related to the phenomenological models in the description of observables in hadronics collisions at high energy regime.
