Towards a new generation of movie recommender systems: A mood based approachWietreck, Niklas January 2018 (has links)
The emergence of the content overloaded internet creates a lot of new challengesfor users and service providers a like. To minimize the displayed amount of contentlike movies, music, or other products service providers like Netflix or Amazonare using recommender systems which aim to guide the user trough the availableinformation. These systems collect knowledge about the user and try to deliver personalized experiences. Most of the state-of-the-art recommender systems are using acontent focused approach but often fail to grasp the nature of users’ desires. Therefore,a mood-as-input model is developed which combines the existing research onhuman mood identification and the emotion classification of content in the domainof movies. In order to match these two components different machine learning modelsare evaluated and a Random Forest is selected as the main matching algorithm. The results of this study indicate that the mood of a user can be used to create personalizedcontent recommendations and that it can perform better than an Arbitrarysystem.

Vitamin C Supplementation and Physical Activity Levels in Young MenJanuary 2011 (has links)
abstract: Among its many roles in the body, ascorbic acid functions as a cofactor in carnitine and catecholamine synthesis, metabolites involved in fat oxidation and mood regulation, respectively. Given that fat oxidation and mood affect one's feelings of vigor, I hypothesized that those with lower levels of plasma ascorbic acid would be less likely to exercise at high levels than individuals with adequate or high levels of vitamin C. To test this, I conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled intervention. A group of healthy, non-smoking males between the ages of 18 and 40 were put on a vitamin C-restricted diet for two weeks and then randomized to a control group that received placebo capsules for six weeks or an intervention group that received 500 mg of vitamin C daily for six weeks. The men were restricted from eating foods high in vitamin C, instructed to wear a pedometer daily and to record their step counts, and to take a pill daily (either the placebo or vitamin C supplement). Unexpectedly, the subjects receiving the intervention had lower step counts than the control group; the control group, rather than the vitamin C group, significantly (p=0.017) increased their steps at week 8 compared to week 2. However, I also estimated daily Metabolic Equivalent Tasks (METs), and subjects receiving the placebo had lower MET outputs than subjects receiving vitamin C at the end of the trial, in spite of having higher step counts. This means the intensity of their activity was higher, based on METs expenditure. Additionally, depression scores (POMS-D) as measured by the Profile of Mood States (POMS) questionnaire were significantly higher (p=0.041) among subjects receiving the placebo at the end of the study. These latter results are consistent with my expectations that subjects with higher levels of plasma vitamin C would have improved mood and higher energy output than subjects with low levels of vitamin C. / Dissertation/Thesis / M.S. Contributions to an interpretation of the structure of Dasein according to its bidimensional character / Aportes para una interpretación de la estructura del Dasein de acuerdo a su carácter bidimensionalBasso Monteverde, Leticia 09 April 2018 (has links)
From a reading of Sein und Zeit and contemporary courses, we are interested in examining the transcendental structure of Dasein to explain what we understand as its bidimensional character. For this, we analyze the function of the mood in the dynamics of the structure through the anxiety (Angst) and profound boredom (tiefe Langeweile). We emphasize the affective disposition as an existential starting point and condition of possibility for two pathways, since in relation to being we observed tension between two dimensions that are oscillated Dasein towards one concealment and one unconcealed motion of what happens. With this interpretation we intend to show that the tensive dynamics of the bidimensional structure of Dasein proposed here is the effect of the original givenness of being.

Španělská modalita z pohledu vztahů mezi modálními významy / Spanish Modality from the Point of View of Relationships among Modal MeaningsKratochvílová, Dana January 2015 (has links)
Dana Kratochvílová Spanish Modality from the Point of View of Relationships among Modal Meanings (dissertation) Abstract: The present work deals with the so-called grey areas that can be found within the Spanish modal system. In these areas, two different types of modality (modal meanings) can occur. We study the relationship that can be found between potentiality and reality, potentiality and evaluation, evaluation and volition, volition and question, question and potentiality, potentiality and volition. We analyse the different types of interaction between modal meanings inside the Spanish modality and study the consequences of those interactions. Keywords: modality, mood, Spanish, subjunctive
