The Perceptual vs. Motoric Basis of Bimanual Coordination in Young Adults and Individual's with Parkinson's Disease

Salter, Jennifer 08 1900 (has links)
The research presented in this thesis investigates the motoric versus perceptual basis of bimanual coordination stability. A general introductory section provides an overview of Parkinson's disease, upper limb coordination in healthy younger and healthy older adults and individuals with Parkinson's disease, and the current views of the basis of bimanual coordination stability. Following the general introductory section are two manuscripts for the two experiments. Both experiments followed similar paradigms. Healthy young adult~ participated in the first experiment and individuals with Parkinson's disease and healthy older adults participated in the second experiment. Following the presentation of the empirical work is a general discussion section. This section is intended to summarize the two experiments, to discuss potential methodological issues and to provide ideas for future experiments. / Thesis / Master of Science (MSc)

TĚLESNÉ SLOŽENÍ, TĚLESNÁ ZDATNOST A ŽIVOTNÍ STYL DĚTÍ MLADŠÍHO ŠKOLNÍHO VĚKU V LIBERECKÉM KRAJI / Body composition, fitness and life style of children at the younger school age at the Liberec region

Horáčková, Jana January 2013 (has links)
Title: Body composition, fitness and life style of children at the younger school age at the Liberec region Objectives: The aim of this work is the evaluation of the body composition of pupils at the younger school age at the Liberec region, to check their fittness and to estimate the correlation between these factors, the amount of physical activity, the way of alimentation and the way of spending their leisure time. Methods: The body composition of the set of 41 children of the age 8 and 10 years (25 boys (i.e. 61%) and 16 girls ( i.e. 39%)) was tested by the measurement on the BODYSTAT apparatus. The fitness of this set was estimated by three motoric tests: the long jump (without run-up), the shuttle run 4x10m and the staying at the over-gripped pull-up. The amount of the physical activity, the way the nutrition and the spending of the leisure time was obtained by the written questionnaire with the help of the modified Dotazník 6. CAV 2001 pro děti a mládež. Results: In the considered set of children, the overweight or obesity was estimated in the case of 10 children (i.e. 24,4%) from BMI percentil graphs and in the case of 5 children (i.e. 12,2%) according to the body fat measured by the BODYSTAT apparatus. The number of obese or overweighted children considered for percentual evaluations in...

Title: Application and Verification of a Self-defence Program for Patients in a Psychiatric Hospital Objectives: The aim of this thesis is application of a self-defence program, created in a bachelor thesis, during an addiction treatment in Červený Dvůr, a psychiatric hospital. The thesis surveys the suitability of the educational program during addiction treatment, verification of acquired motoric skills and its possible integration in patients' free time, recommendation of the exercise to friends, and last but not least it surveys a possible interest in the program in other psychiatric hospitals. Methods: There are several methods used in the thesis. Content analysis is used for working with literature, interview is used in the conversation held with the department head and the custodian. Observation is used for watching the participants doing the exercise. Comparing is used for evaluation of the final outputs. Opinion poll is used for finding the asset of the educational program. Basic statistic methods are used for evaluating the answers in the opinion polls. Monitorování vlivu jednotlivých složek vyučovací jednotky tělesné výchovy na tělesnou zdatnost dívek 7. třídy ZŠ / Monitoring of influence of individual segments of a teaching unit on physical education on fitness of girls from seventh of elememntary school

Floriánová, Linda January 2012 (has links)
Title: Monitoring of influence of individual segments of a teaching unit of physical education on fitness of girls from seventh grade of elementary school. Aim: The aim of the empirical part is to monitor the proportional representation of the motoric activities during the time given in the lessons of physical education of the seventh grade girls, and along with the chosen methods of testing of these individuals, to prove or disprove possible influence of the composition of the P.E. lessons on the chosen segments of their fitness. Methods: Various methods were used for testing the considered sample. These were the standardized motoric tests (intense forward bend when sitting, place-jump with legs together, endurance in a pull-up, hand grip) which investigate the chosen segments of the fitness. Another method used was the bioimpedance which measures the parameters of body composition. The data were recollected quantitatively and the results were also processed quantitatively by means of statistic parameters, such as arithmetic mean, variation span and determinative deviation. Results: From the results of the work emerged that as far as the chosen motoric activities and their influence on the chosen segments of the fitness are concerned, during the time given only the segment of flexibility in...

Vliv laterality na somatognozii u florbalistů / Influence of laterality in somatognostic functions of floorball players

Žarković, Dragana January 2014 (has links)
! Title of thesis : Influence of laterality in somatognostic functions of floorball players Demarcation of the issue : This thesis is dedicated to the influence of laterality in somatognostic functions of floorball players and it rates relation between these two phenomenons. It is a first research in this branch and sport, also, it informs about the coherence of these two phenomenons, from the point of view as a cause of sports injuries and also as a prevention of sports injuries. Justification : Athletes get injured frequently in many different situations. Often, we are dealing with an injury as a consequence, but not the real cause. Physical therapist should get oriented in this problematics to be more effective in the healing process of the athlete. To avoid such problems in adulthood, we should be more focused on the prevention just at the beginning of a sports career of a small athlete. No matter what sports level the athlete had achieved, we are focusing especially in one-sided sport activities. Aim of the thesis : The aim of thesis is to find out any coherence of the effect of one-sided sports, as floorball, to somatognostic functions of players at the age between 6 - 14 years old.
