The thesis considers an issue of the value of music in a human life. In the theoretical section the author interprets the term music and its roles in human life using available literature. Moreover, she focuses on the influence of a music on human psyche, in context of emotions, thinking, fantasy and motivation. The author also deals with the description of musical development of a personality. The author is also attentive to issues of values and value orientation in a human life. In the empirical section the author works with three groups of respondents; namely, with active musicians (i. e. playing a musical instrument or singing). She included professional musicians (group of students of music) and amateur musicians (group of working people with a musical hobby and a group of university students with a musical hobby). There are 33 respondents in the sample aged from 20 to 30. The comparison of these groups is based on the method of halfstructured interview. Issues of the development of musical activities and influences that mattered in this development, a motivation to musical activities, an influence of musical activity on personal life of the respondents (especially in context of relationships), a value and function of a music in an overall value orientation of respondents are compared. The subject of this thesis is the use of recorders in the hands of teachers in the implementation of the entire spectrum of musical activities in kindergarten. The theoretical part outlines the history of the recorder and its types. This part contains the musical development of a child aged 3 to 6 and its musical skills and abilities in this area, according to the Framework Education Program for Preschool Education and the curriculum formerly used. It also includes information on how current secondary pedagogical schools and higher vocational school of pedagogical are engaged in the education of future kindergarten teachers as for playing the recorder. The practical part describes action research in order to create a clear description of several musical units verified in practice. The first phase of the research covers the preparation and implementation of activities already published Mgr. Milena Kmentová, Ph.D. and MgA. Eva Nevoralová with final revision. Further, I will deal with developing and testing my own lessons in practice again with final reflection.

TITLE: The Heritage of František Sedlák within Disciplines of Didactics of Music Education and Music Psychology. SUMMARY: The thesis deals with life and work of František Sedlák, who is known as a teacher, musicologist, choir conductor and musician. The objective of the thesis is to provide Sedlák's biography and give a thorough overview of all his publications. In his articles, papers and other publications, he writes mainly about musical development of a child, musical abilities and skills, psychology of music, problems of children's singing and didactics of music at primary schools. A separate chapter is dedicated to authentic memories of Sedlák's colleagues, which were collected specially for the purpose of this thesis. There is a CD appended to the thesis, where nearly all Sedlák's articles published in various professional journals can be found together with a few pictures from his life.
