No estado de SP alguns dados foram os mesmos de algumas regiões do país, em ambas as séries, tais como: rede de ensino, cor da pele, sexo, se o aluno em defasagem ou não e NSE. Além destas, nas 4as séries as variáveis que se destacaram foram: tamanho do município, indicador de segurança e infra-estrutura da escola. Nas 8as séries o uso do computador com internet, o indicador de violência contra o professor e o indicador de limpeza. Na discussão se reconhece a importância do SAEB em diversos aspectos, principalmente como boa pesquisa de tendência da educação brasileira, possibilitando a comparação do desempenho dos alunos a partir de 1995 e também a evolução da qualidade da educação. Além de viabilizar os resultados por regiões, UF e redes de ensino. Os dados possibilitaram não só especificar alguns fatores associados que influenciam ou explicam o desempenho dos alunos, mas também viabilizaram trazer à discussão idéias que estão implícitas nas políticas públicas adotadas. Importante destacar ainda que o trabalho é um esforço para documentar os passos para utilização da análise multinível (HLM) na área da educação / Abstract: This work had as research problem to find connections between the associated factors and student¿s results with data of the System Evaluation of Basic teaching (Brazil - SAEB-2003) throughout Multi level analysis. In the SP state some data had been the same ones of some regions of the country, such as: kind of school (public or private), race, gender, if the student was right age in the grade or not and SES (Socio Economic Status). Besides that, in 4th level the influenced variables were: size of the city, indicator of security and infrastructure of the school. In 8th level, the variables were the use of the computer with Internet, the indicators the violence against the teacher and cleanness. In the discussion topic it was recognized the importance of the system evaluation in diverse aspects, mainly as a good research of trend in the Brazilian education, making possible the comparison of the performance of the students from 1995 and the evolution of the quality of the education. Besides making possible to obtain results by regions, States and types of schools. The data not only made possible to specify some factors which influence and explain the students¿ performance, but also it became possible to bring to discussion different implicit ideas adopted in public politics.
