Zásah unisex sazeb do trhu životního pojištění / Influence of unisex rates on the life insurance marketVondráčková, Hana January 2010 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with possible reaction of life insurance companies to legislative decree, in which the European Union forbid, within the equality of sexes, to use sex as a factor for assessing different amount of premium between men and women. Using analysis of the product pricing of five important insurance companies helps to show, which risks (and to which extent) this change covers. Because there will be limited possibility to decide on the premium amount according to one of the most important parameters, it can be expected, this decision will have significant influence on the whole insurance market and it will indicate direction of life insurance to the future. Decision about business strategy is influenced also by other entries, such as position of the insurance company, its business network etc. As the most likely direction of market development is here considered new or more distinctive segmentation of clients, hence there are, on accessible data, using the hypothesis about the relative frequency, tested propositions of the new criteria, which could help determine more fair premium.

Přístup k životnímu pojištění z pohledu české populace / Approach to the life insurance from the perspective of Czech populationLoudová, Martina January 2012 (has links)
The life insurance is an integral part of financial market, although changing its importance during the development. This thesis aims to carry out a research focused on the approach and attitude of the Czech population to the life insurance and its resulting analysis. The research was conducted through a questionnaire survey effected on an independent sample of the Czech population in the number of 185 respondents and a case study MetLife insurance company. The thesis does not neglect the theoretical background, current trends in the life insurance and the future prognosis. The results of analysis refer to the dependence of approach to the life insurance on the factors of age, the number of household members, the actual amount of outstanding liabilities and the gross monthly income. The lack of knowledge of respondents on the profitability, the risk and the liquidity of their life insurance policies and its dependence on the factor of achieved education were proved. In the case of a higher number of concluded life insurance contracts they diversify the risk and use different insurers. It also came out that the life insurance has recently kept losing its original meaning in the sense of risk instrument and is perceived still more as a savings and an invesment instrument. Although the current approach is not the rational reasoning, I continue to assume the increasing importance of unit linked life insurance.

This thesis is concerned with the options of the choice of the appropriate way for citizens to save or invest their financial means in order to prepare for the era of the postproductive age -- retirement. It is obvious that a significant drop of income occurs after the end of the productive period of life. The pensions are not sufficient for maintaining a certain level of living and that is why it is important to prepare for this postproductive period in advance and to create financial reserves. The current financial market offers the citizens a variety of means and options to not only appropriately save their financial means but to take interest from them as well. The thesis characterizes individual saving or investment products while focusing on their safety, the possibility of interest and basic advantages and disadvantages. Life insurance is mentioned in the first place, though it does not offer a high profit, it provides insurance security unlike other possibilities and it definitely should not be overlooked. The thesis also briefly deals with several changes concerning the pensions system since 1.1.2013.

Essays in Financial Economics / Essais en Economie FinancièreLyonnet, Victor 17 November 2017 (has links)
The first chapter presents a theory of the coexistence of traditional and shadow banks. We propose that the two bank types are complementary, because in a crisis, they interact in a mutually beneficial way. Our model is consistent with several facts from the 2007 financial crisis that we document. Chapter two provides a detailed analysis and quantification of the transfers between different generations of life insurance investors. These transfers create intergenerational risk-sharing that is enabled by a market friction. We show that this friction consists in imperfect competition among life insurers. The third chapter analyzes liquidity risks in the French life insurance sector. Using institutional details on life insurance taxation in France, our empirical approach establishes a causal link between liquidity risk on the liability side of life insurers and their investment choices on the asset side. Chapter four studies firms' entry in a new market and the conditions under which a firm enters a new market by building on its existing resources (internal entry) or by acquiring a company already operating in this market (external entry). We find that firms entering a new market externally tend to be those whose human capital is not adequate for the new market.
