The problem of this study was to compare native North Texas State University students with selected two-year college transfers to determine which group was more successful at the university.

The problem of this investigation was to determine whether knowledge of student personality, subculture, or place of residence could predict university student recreation participation for men and women. Factors of age, marital status, class in college, and Greek affiliation were also examined for any relationship to recreation participation of university men and women.

The problem of this study concerned the relationships that exist between the actual practices of designers in the apparel industry and the present academic training of future designers. Purposes of this inquiry were to determine the expectations of designers by questioning commercial apparel manufacturers to ascertain the types of functions the fashion designer is expected to perform, to determine the importance the manufacturer places on that activity, and to make an appraisal of the industry's willingness to take an active part in the education of these designers.

The purpose of this study was to determine the availability of qualified industrial arts teachers in the twenty-four North Texas area school districts surveyed; and to ascertain the effects of industrial arts teacher availability upon the status of the industrial arts programs in the school districts surveyed.

This study is concerned with the history of the Student Use of English examination at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. Conceived in 1944 and implemented in 1946, the examination serves as a measure to insure that marginal English students demonstrate a minimal proficiency in composition evidenced by a three and a half page essay written in topics related to their major fields.

1. A study was made of the food habits of college students. 2. Nine women's and five men's boarding houses contributed data over a period of 15 to 84 consecutive days regarding food purchases and the number served. 3. The individual houses reported from 24 to 323 students fed daily. 4. In no case was the food expenditure for fruits and vegetables less than 20 per cent, the range being 21 to 38 per cent. 5. The money spent for milk and milk products was greater for the men's houses than for the women's; five of the eight women's houses exceeded the 20 per cent mark while two of the five men's houses exceeded it. 6. The portion of the food dollar spent for meat, fish, eggs, and poultry on the whole was high, the range being 18 to 40 per cent. 7. None of the houses spent a fifth of the food expenditure for bread and cereals, the range being 4 to 14 per cent. 8. The large amount of money spent by women's houses for oleomargarine tended to increase the proportion of the food dollar spent for adjuncts. Two of the men's houses reported no money spent for oleomargarine. 9. The cost range per day per person for the entire study was 11 to 36 cents. 10. The average cost of feeding a man student was 4 and 1/2 cents more per day than that of feeding a woman student.

This paper seeks to examine the practices of food store chain organizations in the North Texas area regarding the development of store management personnel.

The problem of this study was to determine if principals' freedom to make the decisions for their respective buildings affects the job satisfaction of principals.

Residential Grid-Connected Photovoltaics (GPV) systems hold remarkable promise in their potential to reduce energy use, air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy costs to consumers, while also providing grid efficiency and demand-side management benefits to utilities. Broader adoption of customer-sited GPV also has the potential to transform the traditional model of electricity generation and delivery. Interest and activity has grown in recent years to promote GPV in north central Texas. This study employs a mixed methods design to better understand the status of residential GPV adoption in the DFW area, and those factors influencing a homeowner's decision of whether or not to install a system. Basic metrics are summarized, including installation numbers, distribution and socio-demographic information for the case study city of Plano, the DFW region, Texas, and the United States. Qualitative interview methods are used to gain an in-depth understanding of the factors influencing adoption for the Solarize Plano case study participants; to evaluate the effectiveness of the Solarize Plano program; and to identify concepts that may be regionally relevant. Recommendations are presented for additional research that may advance GPV adoption in north central Texas.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible events in the external environment between 1987 and 1997 that may affect the future of North Texas State University. Two groups of experts participated in the study, a group of individuals from outside North Texas State University and a group of experts from the university.
